Coming off a 30-10 win over Central Michigan this past week, Michigan State remains the #2 team in the country heading into Big Ten play. The Spartans are 4-0 and will look to continue their winning streak this season against Purdue this coming Saturday during homecoming.
The Spartans still have many things to improve as it was only 17-10 against CMU for a good amount with a lot of game left to play. There's still most of the season ahead, which gives plenty of time to improve on areas that need to be worked on. Moving forward, here is a look at the rest of the schedule for Michigan State this season:
Saturday Oct. 3 | Purdue Boilermakers (HC) Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI | Noon ET ABC/ESPN/2 TBA | ||

Saturday Nov. 28 | Penn State Nittany Lions Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI | TBA |
During the rest of the schedule, there are two current ranked teams that Michigan State will face. Both of these teams are MSU's biggest rivals, #1 the Ohio State Buckeyes and #22 the Michigan Wolverines. Unfortunately, MSU will not play the other two ranked Big Ten teams, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Michigan and Ohio State will be the biggest hurdles to clear on the way to the playoff. Ohio State hasn't looked as sharp as they did last season, but most of the season lies ahead for them to improve. The starting quarterback is still up in the air, but as long as they keep on winning, they will most likely remain #1 in the country by the time MSU plays them.
Michigan, on the other hand, is surprising many people by how well they have improved since last season. Starting the season unranked, Michigan is now ranked #22 in the country. This past weekend, they shutout #22 ranked BYU 31-0 at home. With better coaching and a much improved defense, the Wolverines should be a good test for MSU when they play October 17.
While Nebraska is not currently ranked, this also could be a tough victory for the Spartans, as well. A night game under the lights, this game is one Nebraska will be pumped up for and it should also be a good challenge for MSU in addition to the Ohio State and Michigan games.
Overall, we have faith in our Michigan State football team to stay undefeated. We simply wish our Spartans good luck these next coming weeks because we are all looking to them for those big wins.
