As it begins to approach summer, especially for those of us in college, many of us want to improve ourselves before hitting the beach in our swimsuits. There are a few things you can start to do now, that will help to improve not only your physical self, but your mental self by the time the first day of summer rolls around. Check out some of these tips on how to have your best summer self yet.
1. Get in the habit of loading up on that SPF.
I know everyone wants to get that golden tan, but when it comes down to it, is skin cancer really worth it? I've seen one too many old women on the beach who look like wrinkly leather to not reapply my sunscreen every 30 minutes to any hour.
2. Start eating more fruits and veggies.
It's that time of year where all the delicious fruits and vegetables we can't eat year round are coming into season. Juicy strawberries, delectable peaches, and so many more. We might as well enjoy them while they are here, and taste as yummy as they can!
3. Start exercising!
Don't complain about not having a beach bod if you're not willing to do anything to get it. If you want that flat tummy, or to feel extra confident in a bikini, then either start exercising at home, or go get a gym membership. Not only will it help you look better, but you'll feel better too!
4. Start drinking more water!
One of the worst things about the heat is the possibility of getting overheated or dehydrated. If you plan on staying out in the sun for quite some time, make sure you're drinking a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated during the heat.
5. Learn to love yourself.
Even if by the time that first day of summer rolls around, and you're just not feeling comfortable in that new swimsuit you just bought, it's okay. Keep working on yourself, but also know that you are a lovely person and should feel happy in your own skin.
I hope that everyone has a fantastic rest of the school year, and a fantastic Summer 2016! Let's make this the best one yet by being prepared and being sure to enjoy it!
