Everyone waits for the day they turn the big 2-1.

It's the day you get to buy and drink alcohol for the "first time." My 21st birthday was on a Monday night in the middle of winter in Maine. But it was the best night of my life and I have my friends to thank for that. Here's how to make your best friends 21st the best night of her life. (And the worst morning)

1. Start by making a Facebook group months in advance.

This is the best way to stay organized. Decide on a plan to surprise her and invite all the people she loves. You can try to keep the group a secret from her but she will find out. I promise.

2. Surprise them the day of.

Show up to their house with champagne, and mimosa vodka. And when they're finally ready to go to lunch waste time while you wait for her other best friend to show up as a surprise.

3. Go out to lunch somewhere.

Preferably a place with a great drink menu. It's so nice to sit somewhere with your friends and family all together. And make sure they eat a good meal, they're gonna need all the fuel they can get.

4. Take them to a Hibachi place.

This is perfect for her friends that aren't 21 yet because they can still join in on the fun! Make sure you tell the workers it's their 21st birthday. She will be harassed and embarrassed the whole time while being forced to drink endless amounts of saki that the workers squirts at her giving her no choice but to drink it. A water gun filled with saki may even be involved. (Yes this actually happened to me it was the most embarrassing/fun part of the night, even though it got all over my clothes.)

5. Book a hotel room walking distance from the bars.

After dinner everyone can meet at the hotel to pregame. (Also perfect for the friends that aren't 21 yet.) That way no one has to worry about having to drive and everyone can have a great time together. Split the cost between everyone, it will be worth it.

6. Buy the cheesy balloons.

The giant 21 balloons are a great photo-op. If you didn't insta did it even happen?

5. Take them out to all the bars/clubs.

Even if its the middle of the week as long as all her favorite people are there she'll have the time of her life. Plus, if no ones there it will feel like her own personal party.

6. Don't let them pay a cent.

Split dinner and drinks with everyone. It really won't be that much if everyone pitches in, and she will be so grateful.

7. Make sure she's having the time of her life.

If someone doesn't end up on the floor at least once you aren't doing it right.

8. Mix in a water and order pizza.

You can't go out and not have pizza to end the night! It will help them at least a little to survive the next morning. (My friends ordered $100 worth of Domino's and the delivery guy hung out with us in the hotel room for at least a half an hour waiting for someone to pay him.) And if you want any hope for them to survive at all, make sure they are drinking water throughout the whole day/night.

9. Dunkin. Donuts.

Large ice water and a hash brown please. The first step to recovery.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
