RB, where do I even begin? You let me into your life four years ago and I will forever be grateful that you did. You put up with my lame puns and constant complaining. You always fire back with a brilliant comeback whenever I get smart or worked up. But, above all, you accepted the parts of me that no one else did, and that is what makes saying goodbye to you the hardest. I have one day until I move in and as I was packing up the pictures for my dorm room, I found myself reliving our memories from the past year and realized that I needed to thank you for a few things.
First, thank you for putting up with my posters that I brought to literally every sporting event you were at, and also for not immediately throwing them away. You let me tag along to away games and sulked in the self-induced tiredness we both felt at Troy after the brilliant idea of seeing a midnight premier before the last game of the season. Thank you for opening up that aspect of your life to me, and letting me reciprocate that side of my life to you.
Next, thank you for going with me on road trips, whether it’s planned months in advance or you have a one-day notice. You make long car rides worth it with your ~glorious~ snapchats and lip-syncing. Your energy is contagious and your amusement with the little things is truly what keeps me going (i.e. laying down on the random couch in the middle of the street in Nashville, packing an entire carton of lemonade mix for an hour long drive, etc.). You are one-of-a-kind RB. That’s a fact.
Lastly, thank you for just being you. You care about anyone and everyone you meet. You go out of your way to make sure a stranger feels welcome. You have the heart of a servant and a personality that can only be described by using your own name. I can always count on you to help hijack snapchat, make faces while we’re practicing on Sundays, sneak food when no one is looking, and so many more things that I don’t have room to name. You make me want to be a better person. You hold me accountable, yet never let me fall. I’m blessed to know you, and honored to call you one of my best friends. I’ll see you soon RB.
Love,
MT
