Getting an Apple Watch had never crossed my mind prior to this past Christmas. It was one of those years where I didn't ask for anything for Christmas, so I had no idea what to expect on the morning of the 25th. When it came though, I was shocked and excited to know that my parents had decided to get me an Apple Watch. I hadn't done much research on the product, so I wasn't really sure what all of the hype was about. It's been just about two months since receiving the Apple Watch and it has changed the way I go about my everyday life. This is a piece regarding everything I love about the Apple Watch!
Unique Messaging Capabilities
The only other person that I know that has an Apple Watch is my uncle, so I don't get to use the messaging capabilities all that much, but I've used them enough to know how they're unique. The Apple Watch gives the user the capability to add friends that also have an Apple Watch, so if you want to send a quick message to one of them, you can reach them without even having to take your phone out of your pocket! All the user has to do is choose from a menu of friends and then write with his/her finger a message on the screen. Because the Apple Watch has a fitness tracker built into it, the Watch can detect the user's heartbeat. Then, if the user presses two fingers down on the messaging screen the Watch will send the beat of the user's heart to his/her friend, adding a physical component to messaging today.
Accessibility
The accessibility of the Watch is hands down what I love most about the Apple Watch. Every time I get a notification that I would otherwise get on my iPhone, I also now receive on my Watch. This means that I can view any message, email, or social media notification on my Apple Watch without even having to take my phone out of my pocket.
Physical Activity Tracking
The Watch has an activity app that notifies the user about how many minutes of exercise, amount of calories burned and how often the user stands up. This app tells the user throughout the day of all of these statistics in order to keep the user aware of his/her activity and let them know how active they were. The app is very accurate and helps me stay aware of how active I should be every day. The Watch also allows you to set activity goals each month for the user to reach.
These three reasons are why I love having the Watch on me at all times. The Watch hasn't been all that popular among millennials, but I think it is a great tool and people should take a second look at the Apple Watch. I seriously recommend millennials consider buying an Apple Watch; you won't regret it!
