The 2015-2016 NFL season was one to remember, it wasn't as predictable as most years. No one (besides anyone living in North Carolina) would have guessed the Panthers could go 15-1. No one could predict David Johnson to have such a good year for a rookie. And now going into the 2016-2017 season, it's looking even more unpredictable with the Steelers losing two big time players to their offense, the Broncos losing a legend, the Seahawks losing an all time great running back etc,. But which teams really have a solid chance to win it all this year?
Let's start with the Packers:
The Packers are an interesting situation. They have star Jordy Nelson returning from a torn ACL but no one knows how good he will be after a big injury. Nelson was a big part of Green Bay's offense basically being the only receiver who could actually get open. Running back Eddy Lacie, who is arguably the best running back out of the 2013 draft class seems to be very serious about getting back in shape. Overall their offense is very good, but fullback John Kuhn, a big part of the running game has not been re-signed yet and this seems to be something that could slow them down, in addition to the mediocre offensive line. Green Bay's defense seems to be a lot better with Clay Matthews moving back to outside linebacker. Overall, watch out for Green Bay to potentially take the NFC this year.
Next up, Seattle:
Seattle seems to be interesting as well. Russell Wilson seems to have the most pressure on him compared to any other Quarterback in the league. This team is his now with Marshawn Lynch retiring and their defense seems to not be as intimidating as they were in years past. Running back Thomas Rawls had a breakout year last year while Lynch was injured. Doug Baldwin seemed to seem some great potential towards the end of the season, which could make for one of the best offensive trios in the league. Their defense always seems to find their way in the top ten so the NFC is most likely going to be between Green Bay and Seattle.
Now to the AFC:
The AFC has been extremely competitive the past few years. But the Pittsburgh Steelers in particular are a very interesting team. Running back Leveon Bell is easily one of the top in the league and Big Ben has been putting up great numbers the past few years with the help of the leagues best receiver (Antonio Brown). Easily the best offense in the league with a decent enough defense. Although, with Leveon Bell facing a four week suspension, who knows where this team could end up? If overturned, the Steelers could easily win 13 games and see themselves in Super Bowl 51.
The Oakland Raiders:
Done laughing? OK. Good. The Raiders have been the leagues laughing stock for years but now are a force to be reckoned with. With star receiver Amari Cooper who could easily take over the league in a few years, and running back Latavious Murray this offense is really good under QB Derick Carr. The defense took a major boost with the team spending so much in free agency. Don't be surprised if Oakland finds themselves making a playoff run.
