Everyone is always so quick to judge "online dating." They assume you can't find someone in person, or you're too lazy to get up and go out. It may be the case, but not always. Maybe you just can't find someone who you are compatible with in person, or you just haven't found someone who you see yourself investing time into.
If you Google "online dating," there are so so many dating sites like: Zoosk, OkCupid, eHarmony, Match, Chemistry, and my personal favorite, Tinder. Yes, I said my favorite. I have a Tinder just like most people these days.
I have done online dating and found a real relationship and it is still one of the best things I have ever experienced.
1. Less pressure:
Dating sites are helpful to the ones who are shy and nervous about everything. You can take your time thinking about what to say without being nervous and blurting out the first thing that pops into your head. Online messaging and phone conversations before meeting in person allows you to become comfortable with someone before getting together for the first date.
2. Avoid embarrassment:
There are two ways that online dating helps you avoid embarrassment. The first is obvious: Dating websites prevent you from having to get rejected, or reject anyone in person. The second is something you may not have thought of. People may hold back feelings or thoughts when meeting in person because they are too embarrassed to talk about them, but when people write online they tend to disclose more about themselves, which lets you get to know them better.
3. Connect on a deeper level:
Online dating provides a unique opportunity to get to know the person behind the face. Since all you see is a profile picture, you get to know the person for who they truly are. This can take away the shallow decision making effects of physical attraction and allow your heart an unbiased opportunity to fall in love.
4. Safer.
Its safer to meet someone online than in person, in my opinion. You do not need to revel your name, address, birthday (you can if you please) or any other personal information.
5. It's always available:
Up at 2 a.m. and can't sleep, on break at work, standing in line at Starbucks or anytime; online dating is always there. There are always people up at the same time you are and just want to talk to a complete stranger.
Online dating is not for everyone, but sometimes it fills the little "gap" people have and makes them feel wanted, themselves, or even spontaneous.
