Benefits Of Mixed Martial Arts
Christian Collier

I have practiced both kickboxing and Muay Thai for a combination of almost four years. Some may say it is dangerous and pointless. While others may say it is fun and adventurous. I am here to tell you the benefits of Mixed Martial Arts.

1. It is fun.

Some people perform martial arts because they find it to be entertaining. They do not do it for the glory, but for the excitement that comes along with it. Interacting with other humans while learning the abilities of offense and defense really put the cherry on top to build enthusiasm and bonding relationships. Think of it as friends hanging out and doing some of the things they love.

2. It requires a lot of focus.

When practicing martial arts, it is not all power and muscles. In fact, it involves a lot of thinking and timing. The fighter will have to pay attention to its opponent's moves while also coming up with their own to win the fight. A person must also be aware of their breathing and positioning in the match area. This is very good for their mind development because their brain is constantly active. It can also help people be more alert with their environment as well as daily studying.

3. It is great exercise.

Though martial arts require a lot of thinking, there is a lot of physical activity involved as well. There are many hours where a person must train to keep their bodies strong. If a person has skills and continues to build their body up, the results are even more efficient. They usually have the ability to hit, kick, and move faster. Also, with all of the movement, the body will gain endurance, speed, strength, and tolerance. It is demanding as if someone was to work out in a gym.

4. It can be used as a self defense tactic.

With knowing the proper skills of martial arts, a person can do some serious damage to an attacker. Most attacker are more than likely not going to have defined fighting abilities. There stances are usually brawler style to where they just want to clobber their victim or take down. With the wide armed attacks, they probably will not have any guard, and a victim can easily block and attack their attacker. Overall, it gives a person the ability to protect themselves and potentially catch an attacker off guard.

5. Anyone is capable of learning.

Most martial arts are oriented where anyone can learn. It is all about finding the right teacher and how hard a person trains. Some people can use it for a work out or leisure time. While other people may want to use it for a potential career. It all depends what an individual wants out of studying martial arts.

So don't be afraid to spread your wings and get into the action. For all you know, martial arts could change your life!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
