Everyone has a specific thing they want to do in the future. I want to be on ESPN someday talking about sports with someone else that has the passion about it like I do. Sports intrigue me because of the competitiveness that is involved. My favorite sports to watch are basketball and football. I love just having conversations with people about those two sports. People that I look up to within this field are Stuart Scott and Stephen A. Smith. They are African Americans who are very prominent people within the sports broadcasting field. Being African American and being successful is rare. Not a lot of people who are my complexion are on ESPN and successful. I look up to Stephen A. Smith because of the amount of passion that he shows when he talks about sports. When I watch him on ESPN I can tell he enjoys his job and loves sports. When he is on television everything he says does not seem like it's scripted at all. Certain topics will get him mad so he expresses that emotion with speaking very eloquently. Then Stuart Scott, who is no longer alive, is someone else I looked up to. When he was on ESPN his catchphrases were well remembered when he talked about sports, as was the passion he showed when he talked about various sports or people. He was always showing excitement doing his job. I want to be someone like them but more than them. I want to bring myself to those jobs by working hard while at the University of Clafin. I would absolutely try my hardest to be on ESPN. No one in their right mind can stop me to reach that goal. The work that I am going to put into to someday be on ESPN and making money will be achieved through the work ethic that I have. I know it is not easy to achieve but as long as I put my mind to it I know for a fact I can achieve it. Being a student at Claflin I must ask everyone in the Mass Communication department to help me to achieve that goal. I need to make connections with more people at my school. In order to be that man on ESPN that I want to be it all start at the University of Claflin.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
