My Go-To YouTube Makeup Gurus

I might be the typical college student when I say this but when I’m not busy with schoolwork, writing articles every week or just napping, I’m on YouTube, letting it all get into my naïve brain and absorbing the beauty world’s secrets. Like every girl, I do have a set list of YouTubers I follow up with weekly and here are my favorites.

1. Michelle Phan

I’ve been following this beautiful woman ever since she came out with her first video in 2007, so I feel like I have a close bond with her. Back in the day (and still now too shhh) I was a huge fan of Lady Gaga and Michelle winded up creating a video of a look Lady Gaga once had and that video made her blow up all over the internet. With her newfound success, she created her own makeup line called Em and is currently writing her own comic book called Helios Femina which goes off about her own life. So go check her channel out, she has a lot of diversity when it comes to looks and that’s why I really love her. And if you don’t believe that I’m a huge fan of hers, just check out my picture below!

2. Carli Bybel

Another one of my beauty divas and what I love bout her so much is that she’s young, flourishing and keeps it real. A lot of beauty gurus will promote a product in a better light just because they’ve given them the product for free, but she holds her ground as she reviews products in her videos. I also love how in depth she goes with her product reviews. It just goes to show how much of an expert she is with makeup and for that, go her!

3. Dulce Candy

She comes with a very interesting story. She used to be in the army and for that, she wasn’t allowed to wear that much makeup. After she got out, she started experimenting with makeup and pretty much taught herself how to use all of these products considering she was never really familiar with them. And as you obviously can tell, she’s mastered the art of makeup. Not only is she a bad*ss b*tch but she’s Spanish too, so there’s a lot we can connect on.

4. Sona Gasparian

There are some YouTube stars that just overdo makeup looks and I feel like there’s a time and place for all of that. Sona puts up makeup tutorials that are wearable on every day bases. Once in a while she’ll put up an edgier look but that’s not really her style of work. So if you’re going for an interview or a formal event, swing by her channel.

5. Desi Perkins

This girl is down with her crew and when I say that, I mean she has a well rounded group of friends: she hangs out with Carli Bybel, Chrisspy and even Kylie Jenner. And because she surrounds herself with all of these makeup beauties, she is well invested in her trade. I like that she is assertive in her videos, she’s not putting on a high pitched voice nor being all cute on camera. She’s raw and I respect that. (By the way, Desi's the one on the left.)

6. *BONUS* Tenzin Tseyang

So this is my gal Tenzin. She is an upcoming beauty guru who just started her YouTube Channel. Not only is she a makeup star but she's a close friend of mine who I love very much. If you want to try some edgy looks for an future events, check her out. You won't be disappointed!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
