The Makeup Queen of Cape Cod

If you live on Cape Cod, you may or may not know Molly. If you know Molly, you may not know about her creative side that is known to many on Instagram as @mesmakeupobsessed. Widely popular on Instagram, at only 18 she has already made milestones. Some of these include being MUA certified and being reposted by brands such as Anastasia and Jeffree Star. Her talent is shown through her tutorials and artistic pictures. Each post is uniquely different, showing her makeup of the day or her favorite products. I interviewed Molly recently to ask her about her talent. Don't just take it from me, check out some of her work below and her responses. Q. What sparked your love for makeup?

A. Watching other people do it! Sounds strange but, it has always fascinated me watching others apply makeup, their style and their technique. It inspired me to do it myself!

Q. When did you start to get into makeup?

A. Honestly, I was wearing lip gloss before I knew how to walk. But, when I turned 11, was when I got obsessed.

Q. How have your makeup skills progressed?

A. I a see difference daily, I went from thinking it was okay to not blend your shadow to being able to bang out a wing in seconds. It’s all about practice!


Q. When did you start your instagram and why?

A. June of 2014, I wanted to get myself out there! My dream was to share my love for cosmetics with others.

Q. What is your favorite type of post to put on your Instagram?

A. Product shots! I’m very into photography, so I love getting the perfect angles and lighting to show off the latest shadow palette or lipstick.

Q. How many followers do you have right now?

A. 10.k!

Q. Where do shoot your tutorials and pictures?

A. In my makeup room!

Q. Have any of your instagram posts been reposted on any makeup brand accounts?

A. Yes! Quite a few, I die a little inside overtime!

Q. What is your favorite brand of….

Eyeshadow: Anastasia

Lipstick: Bite Beauty

Foundation: Lancome

Lashes: Huda Beauty

Brushes: Morphe

Q. What are some cool things you have done with makeup?

A. My personal favorite: glitter looks! Glitter is hands down my favorite thing to work with. I love mixing colors and creating a crazy sparkly look to draw attention to the eyes.

Q. What is your biggest accomplishment to date?

A. Having my dream job as a makeup artist with Sephora!

Q. What is your goal for the future?

A. As of right now, I want to stay with Sephora and move up with them. I’m blessed to be able to wake up in the morning and love going to my job. I love that I learn something new there everyday. I'm so grateful to work with all the supportive people I do!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
