Writer's block is honestly the worst thing ever. It makes you feel like an idiot not only because you can't think of anything to write, but also because you completely forget everything you've ever learned about grammar and how to put together a decent piece of work. We've all seen that episode of SpongeBob where he has writer's block so bad that he sets his house on fire. So, with finals coming up and writer's block personally hitting me pretty hard here are a few tips to help us all not burn down our houses.
Exercise!
Exercising will help get your mind off whatever you are supposed to be writing, it will help clear your thoughts, it's good for you, and it increases endorphins which make you happy! Plus, having the ability to stare at the cute guy across the gym isn't a bad way to get your mind off of that essay you have to write either.
Hydrate Yo' Self
Keeping yourself hydrated is not only good for you, but it helps keep your mind alert and focused. Have you ever gone an extended period of time without drinking any water? Come one admit it we've all had those days where we drink nothing, but coffee and then wonder why our brain can't function. *This may just be me, but it's fine mom.
Stay Off Social Media
Honestly, I find myself on social media way more often when I have homework to do than any other time. There are even some websites that allow you to block certain sites for an extended period of time.
Turn Off Your Phone
Good joke right? But seriously if you have a lot to write your phone is probably the most distracting thing because you'll either be constantly texting or on apps or if you're like me checking your phone wondering why no one ever contacts you #nofriends ~ but that's a topic for another article.
And Finally....
Screw It
Just don't write the thing. There are plenty of jobs out there where you don't need a college degree. So continue on and procrastinate as long as possible before you have to turn in your work and you may or may not find yourself up at 2 a.m. writing an 8-page paper on your floor, but it's whatever right?
