Two words. Valentine’s Day. Some get all gooey-eyed at the sound, others become filled with a furious rage. Sure it’s just another day, but why not make it extra-ordinary. We often forget that sometimes it’s okay to take a little time to put ourselves first. So here’s a list of some things you can do to show your appreciation and love for YOURSELF this Valentine’s Day.

Molten Chocolate Frappuccino

This one is first because it’s a limited time offer for the Hallmark Holiday... and it's almost too good to be true. Heavenly. Get to Starbucks before Valentines day is over, love yourself a little! Ready, Set, Go!

Write yourself a letter

A brutally and beautifully honest letter. Tell yourself about all of the things you adore, and also the reasons it's not working out anymore. Things need to change so you can be happy. If you need to break up with yourself and start a new, then let the transformation begin. Step away from the negative energy, the insecurities, the faults, and rewrite your relationship with yourself. Make it one full of love and compassion. You deserve only the best you.

And remember, it’s not you… it's you. Wait…

Pamper yourself to a complete breakfast feast

Go out to a nice diner, anywhere with the best specials. Get the heart shaped waffles, down your orange juice with two straws, whatever you fancy. If you’re really want to go all out and show yourself just how much you appreciate you, you can prepare it for yourself to eat in bed, or even in the tub…

Buy yourself a bath bomb

Don’t yell at me; I swear by them. Go to Lush, in store, online, look at the variety of scents, colors, and features of each one. They’re filled with beneficial all natural ingredients for pure pampering, from cocoa butter, orange oil, peppermint oil, violet leaf, to even sea weed. I assure you that you’ll find the perfect match for you. And there are plenty of fish in the sea. Or in the tub I suppose.

Begin a compliment collage

If you’re not comfortable having this visible for all to see, keep it in a journal, post it note upon post it note, in a jar, or if you’d like, next to your mirror or bed. Try your best everyday to write a compliment for yourself, whether it be when you look at yourself in the mirror each morning, or in the evening while reflecting on your day. Keep these in a safe spot for when you need them the most. It might get tricky after a while but the more you have to look for them, the more you’ll get to know yourself. And you’re probably more intricate then you think, so there’s plenty to find.

Get dressed up and go to a fancy shmancy restaurant with some friends

You’ll look so good, and I guarantee everyone at your table will be laughing way louder and having a far better time than all of the couples at the tables next to you. Oh, and get dessert too. Plus, no one will be worried about who’s covering the tab either. For each his own… phew!

Make personalized Valentine's cards for all of your closest buds

Get crafting, sketching, doodling, whatever you feel. Nothing feels better than spreading some love. They wont necessarily be for you, but the time you put toward the creative endeavor and the heart-felt notes you write, will make you cherish the relationships that surround you. Nothing makes you feel better than giving. Plus, love only multiples as it gets passed along, so you’re pretty much saving the world.

So get out there. Save the world! Show yourself some love. Be your own special someone always, regardless of who else may or may not be in the picture.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
