Bama Football: Why We'll Succeed Even In The Midst of Doubt

Last year many people around the college football world knew Bama football as the national champions, the team with the Heisman trophy winner, and the team with the guy who's done it all (Nick Saban of course). What they don't know is that we're only getting better. You see, every year we lose a star player and every year people doubt us. The truth is, there are no "star players." Despite what any reporter has said not one person carries the team on their back. They are the true definition of a team.

Running-back depth

One reason people are doubting us for next year is because we've lost two of our best running backs, Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake. Truthfully although they are some of the best (and we wish them all the luck at Tennessee and Miami) some of our greatest depth is on our running back side. First of all, we have Damien Harris, who was Henry's back up. According to his stats on Rolltide.com, during the Mississippi State game he relieved Henry halfway through the fourth where he then rushed three times for four yards and caught one pass for five yards. Not much, but definite potential. Now, Charleston Southern (yes it's not a big name team but like Saban said just because they're not a big name team doesn't mean we rule them out) he saw the most playing time of his career where he rushed 10 times for 44 yards. Then he added his first touchdown which was a six-yard rush to the right side. It only takes one game to give a player confidence that will last a lifetime. Of course we have many other good running backs but let's leave that to the future.

QB's step up

On to the quarterback side. We're losing our starter Jake Coker who was doubted at the beginning of the 2015 season. Remember the Ole Miss game on September 19? Benched. What drove him to become our starter and get that national title? When he got benched that game. Behind him we have Cooper Bateman. During that Ole Miss game he went 11-17 with a long pass of 30 yards to Howard as said on Rolltide.com. Yes, one interception but we can't doubt him due to one mistake. He's part of this quarterback dynasty we have. You see there was McCarron, then Blake Sims stepped up after him, and after that? Coker. Whether it be Bateman, Cornwell, Barnett or Hurts someone will step up and keep the dynasty going. That brings me to my next point.

The dynasty

One of the biggest mistakes that people make against Alabama football is doubting our dynasty. These boys step up when they need to. Saban doesn't get these boys to commit because we're "good." He goes after the ones who are worth it, who have the heart to fight, who will light a fire in themselves when he benches them. This is Alabama football. So, don't doubt The Dynasty.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
