Just So You Know, ASU Is A Hockey School

Arizona State men's hockey is in the NCAA Tournament and this is why you should cheer for them.

Yup, you read it right. Arizona State men's hockey tournament is tournament bound and headed to Allentown, Pennsylvania to show all of the other three teams in that regional competition just how it's done.

Now, you might ask how a school that has a reputation for being a "party school" and located in the desert is even able to have a D1 hockey team in the first place. And much less have them be tourney bound when they don't even have a conference to play in.

Well, it can happen.

Even if they do have a small arena to play in (it only fits a couple of hundred people in it but is packed every game) and even if it does seem like we have more cacti than people.

If you're one of those people that doesn't think this is a big deal, then you are really kidding yourself and missing out on a hell of a team.

Maybe I'm being biased because I know people who cover the team or because it's my school, but what this means for the growth of hockey, in general, is important.

If a team ranging from all over North America and beyond can pull this off as a program that is still seen as young, then any team around the world can do it.

I also see this as motivation for kids in these not so common hockey areas to feel comfortable in playing the sport. They get to have this team as a group of people to look up to and maybe even strive to be like them.

To be the underdogs. To pull the upsets. To be the stars of their state. To be an inspiration.

And if you want me to tell you a little bit more about their accomplishments, then get ready for it. This is their third full year as an independent program meaning that they don't have a conference to play in, but hopefully, that changes soon. Nonetheless, they were still the first independent school to make the tournament since 1992, which is probably some time before we were even born!

ASU also went 21-12 this season, which is really good, especially because they had eight sweeps in total and even found ways to upset big hockey schools like Boston College, Boston University and Michigan State just to name a few.

I could go on and on naming all of the small accomplishments that meant so much and helped them get to this point, but I think you get it.

Now, Sun Devil men's hockey team, go to Allentown and give them hell!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
