7 Arguments Siblings Have When They Come Home For Winter Break

We all love our siblings (for the most part), but what happens when you all come home from college and have to spend a whole month together?

Siblings fight a lot, but when they are away for school, they don't see each other as much. When siblings come home for the holidays, they get stuck with each other for a month. Here are some of the things that my brother and I tend to fight about.

1. Food

Food comes down to two arguments: where we are going, and who is paying. My brother and I almost NEVER agree on the same place, and when it comes down to deciding where to eat the conversation usually goes:

"Where do you want to go to eat?"

"I don't care."

"OK, how about Chinese?"

"No, I don't want that."

"OK, so what do you want?"

"I don't care."

2. Grades

Ever since my brother and I got home from college, we have been arguing about grades. Nothing aggravates me more than when he rubs his grades in my face. We get it... OK... you're the smart one.

3. Pets

Every night there are at least five cases of doggo napping. I'll fall asleep with all three dogs, but when I wake up to get water or something, I'll be down to one. It's a constant battle of who the dogs love more, and plot twist it's neither of us; it's my dad.

4. Parents

This is an argument that all siblings have: who is the favorite child. As much as we fight about who the favorite child is, we definitely keep tally's on our parents and pick our favorite. They might say they don't have a favorite, but we both know they do, and it changes daily. #KissUp

5. Personal Space

My brother and I are always fighting about personal space. He will literally sit there, less than an inch away from me and as soon as I complain about it he says, "I'm not touching you," which he knows drives me INSANE! The absolute most annoying thing is when I tell him to stay out of my personal space bubble, and he looks me in the eye and says "pop" and pops my imaginary space bubble.

6. Chores

When we are all away at college we get used to doing our chores on our own time, but as soon as we walk in the door our mom starts giving us things to do. "Put the dishes away"; "wash the towels"; "get the Christmas decorations from the attic," but how do we decide who does the chores? The only way possible, nose goes.

7. Driving

When it comes to who is driving, there is always an argument, but somehow, I'm always the one who ends up using MY gas. I don't know how he does it, but my brother always has some excuse as to why he can't drive.

* * *

Don't get me wrong my brother and I fight all the time, but I know he will always have my back, and I don't know what I would do without him. He is my best friend, my right hand, and I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
