Are You Ready To Date A Single Mom?
The Huffington Post

Women who are single moms have zero time for games, because they probably can't even remember the last time they had a moment alone.
Their kids are their whole world and unless you plan on being part of that, you need to keep walking.
If you think you're ready to be with a single mom; here are some things to make sure you can deal with:

1. Your text may not get replied to right away or ever....
We don't have time to sit on our phones every second of every day, and quite honestly our kid has our phone 9 times out of 10.
We are basically paying our phone bill to strictly be able to get through cooking dinner without someone getting burnt on the stove.

2. We can't do last minute plans
Before having kids it was awesome to be surprised with a weekend away at the drop of a hat, but now we need sitters and money to pay a sitter.
No, their dad is not a babysitter.
If you don't know how to plan ahead; a single mom is not for you.

3. You have to be flexible
Kids get sick, have bad days, and are tiny humans that consume all our time.
If we have plans and our kid is sick; you have to be understanding when we cancel on you.
When our kid is having a bad day and they need some extra time with mom; we're probably going to have to cancel. They won't be little forever.

4. You have to enjoy kids
Seems like this would be a given, but it isn't.
I get that you like your niece and nephews, but they aren't around all the time. If you date a single mom eventually, if things are serious, you are going to meet their kids. We get being around kids all the time can be a little much. It isn't always fun. Tantrums, screaming, throwing things occasionally, and the sassy back talk. All part of being a parent, but there are tons fun times too. Our kids worry about us, and they want to get a feel for you too. So, when we don't rush them off to bed or over to grandma's so we can be alone; get over it.

5. We are a package deal- Instant family
Being alone is definitely a must, but we can't just go out without the kids all the time. Be prepared to have outings at the park, museums, and birthday parties. Single moms and their kids already make a family, and in order to date a single mom you have to be on board with incorporating the kids in most of your dates.

I know it isn't typical and can even be challenge, but seeing a single mom and all her strength; it will change your life - if you're ready for it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
