An Open Letter To My Best Friends

It’s so fun having a best friend like you and I think of myself as the luckiest girl in the world because I have you as one of my biggest supporters no matter what.

First off, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for putting up with me, thank you for laughing with me, thank you for always putting a smile on my face, thank you for telling me how it is and always being straight up with me. Thank you for laughing at my jokes even when we both know they’re not funny. Thank you for helping me get through my struggles. Thanks for making me study. Thank you for making me who I am, you are the best.

I appreciate you more than you will ever know and I honestly don’t know what I would do if you weren’t in my life. You have helped me with so much, especially in the past few months. You have seen me at my best and seen me at my worst. Thank you for all the advice, memories and for sticking around even when I’m a mess.

I want you to know that you can come to me for anything and everything. Whether it’s 2am and you’ve got a lot on your mind or at three in the afternoon and you need to tell someone about the cute dog you just saw; I’m here. I want to hear about your life, I want you to share your stories with me. I want to be apart and I want to have each other to make fun of the jerks we encounter together.

When I think about you and all the memories we have made all I can do is smile because of how blessed I am to have you do life with me. Our spontaneous adventures, long phone calls, dinner dates, movie nights and nights that turn into mornings make me so happy to look back on.

You are an amazing person and I hope you know that. You inspire me to be a better person and teach me so much about life. I hope you know your self-worth and if you don’t or if you ever question it, I’m always here for a confidence booster.

Embrace your individuality and independence. You are an incredible human and you deserve the world. I have loved watching you do life and I can’t wait to continue to see the amazing things that happen to you and help you through the hard times.

Thank you for being my person, my rock and my best friend.

I love you to the moon and back.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
