Dear Green Bay Packers,
I’m going to start this off pretty blunt; it is sad to see the season come to an end. For 18 years I have been watching you play, and the last game gets harder each year. Football season, is my favorite season. Sunday becomes my favorite day of the week. Along with having the joy of watching you play, I also gain the excuse to bring friends and family together to enjoy the game. The green and gold have some of the most loyal fans in the NFL. Ask anyone honestly. I mean, not to brag or anything, but it’s hard not to support the team who won the first two Super Bowls ever. Being part of this wonderful fan base is like being part of one crazy family. Us Cheeseheads stick together and promise to fight till the bitter end.
For all those people on the waiting list, they know the pain of how they probably will never see those glorious season tickets. In 2011 the waiting list was 86,000 people long, and only around 90 of those people got tickets the following season. This is because us Packer fans don’t dare let go of those tickets. We are committed. Through rain, sleet, and snow we choose to stand out in the stadium and watch you play. I recently had the amazing opportunity to watch you play, and let me tell you something, it’s a commitment to just get ready for the game. I have been to a total of three games in my life, but this last one was nothing like I had seen before. It was 15 degrees out and we had actually set aside a half hour to just get dressed. How many football fans can say they’ve done that? We weren’t the only ones that is for sure. I didn’t truly realize the dedication these fans have to you until I got there. It started when we parked. We parked in a random neighborhood in a complete strangers drive way. I remember getting out of the car and just looking up and down the streets. Every driveway was filled, and there wasn’t an empty spot on the street. Walking up to the stadium I looked around and watched as people flooded from every direction. People cheered and desperately filed their way in.
When we got to their seats is when it really hit me. I looked around at the thousands of people who had do bundled up to face the winter weather just to come watch you play. You lost that game, but it didn’t matter. We cheered for you, and loved every moment of it. Packer nation is a real thing. Across the country you can find green and gold. We will stand behind you through thick and thin, and be there every step of the way. I represent everyone when I say thank you for making Sundays something special. Thank you for letting us be part of something great. Thank you for making it great. Cheers to another fantastic season, even with a final total of 18 injured players. Just because the season is over, it doesn’t mean we will be hanging up our jerseys.
See you next season,
