By now, I’m sure you’re used to people pointing out his radical point of view. But Donald Trump is not a good person, nor would he make a good president. While I can understand that some may appreciate his open ability to speak his mind as well as his lack of concern for what people think, are these really the qualities you want in a presidential candidate? You've seen his political outcries filled with sexist and racist ideologies. But my question is why? A president has to know when to hold their tongue. They should exude respectfulness rather than dominance. They should not make a non-supporter want to flee the country at the prospect of having Trump in office. The leadership Trump displays is simply irresponsible. From his violent political rallies to ridiculing and bullying those who disagree with him to pushing towards his "truth" of going against anyone who isn't white, Trump is tearing us apart as a country and doing much more harm than good.
But if you don't believe me, then just listen to him. Here are a few words from the man himself:
“[I am] calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” — Donald Trump.
“Our great African-American President hasn’t exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore.” — Donald Trump.
“You know, it really doesn’t matter what the media writes as long as you've got a young, and beautiful, piece of ass.” — Donald Trump.
My heart truly goes out to you all. Because 32 percent of you are women, a group which Trump has sexualized and demeaned time after time. Many of you are super conservative, but how many of you know that he he’s only a false conservative - from pouring in money to support Democratic politicians to advocating eminent domain, and inconsistently changing his stance on significant conservative issues like abortion. Moreover, a colossal 50 percent of you are earning less than $50,000 a year. So when Trump follows through with his plans to make major cuts to low income programs like Medicaid, food stamps, disability assistance, and living assistance, guess who it’s going to affect? The answer could be you, or someone you know.
So it’s time to listen up, because current data suggests that although the numbers are close, Clinton’s lead over Trump is slowly narrowing. In a poll conducted by CBS News, they found that when questioned if the Republican Party needs to unite behind Trump in order to win, 63 percent said yes, with 64 percent supporting his ability to bring the party together. To me, these numbers are scary. Many Republicans vote a straight ticket, and they really want to to take the White House back, no matter who the candidate is. Unfortunately, that candidate is Trump, but we could be instrumental in defeating him if we simply vote for someone else.
Overall, I hope that you take a second look into the man that Trump really is - a hypocritical, mean, and biased man who might be enjoyable to watch on TV, but has no business running the United States of America.
