Dear My Beautiful Moorestown,

Located in South Jersey, you are the farthest thing from being "Dirty Jerz", despite the nickname that seems to be here to stay. I grew up with you, and even though I never appreciated you as much as I should have, I am grateful for you. From my first day of kindergarten to the last day of my senior year, you were there while I created all of my childhood memories - the good and the bad. Despite the many ups and downs, they will all certainly be cherished.

You taught me indescribable lessons about life and love that I will carry with me always. I feel comfortable stepping out into the world with my best foot forward because of where I come from. I feel so privileged to say this, because I know not everyone can.

Despite Moorestown being a very privileged town, there is much more to you than what meets the eye. The privilege comes from the education in our unbeatable school system. It comes from the strength and resiliency of our residences. It shines through our athletics and countless numbers of other programs that shape every child growing up here; most of which I had the opportunity to experience.

I feel blessed to have grown up in a community so strong and so giving. When there was not a fundraiser, there were volunteering or charity events, and there was always someone willing to help the guy next to them. Despite not seeing your full potential or knowing how truly lucky I was while I was a full-time resident, I am truly happy that I have come to recognize the Moorestown everyone knows and loves. Love is all around you, and I see that now.

So no, do not worry, you are not anything close to a friend of convenience, but more like the type where we can pick up where we left off. No matter how far I roam, I know you will open those arms of yours, the ones you held onto me with for so long, and welcome be back for as long or as little as I please.

And for that, I will be forever grateful.

Love always,

Your fellow Moorestownian

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
