An Ode To The Resistance (Part 3 of 3)

The last two weeks, I've left you with two of the voices of reason in “The Resistance.” Last week, I presented to you those who prefer the highly blunt Bill Maher, and can afford the $15 a month for HBO in your cable or satellite provider of choice. Two weeks ago, I presented to you a man who could only be chained down by ‘the man,’ who is now featured under the very title of ‘The Resistance,’ Keith Olbermann. Now, for the finale in this mini-series.

The next member in my vision for ‘the big three’ in ‘The Resistance’ comes from ventures on E! Entertainment television (for those of you wishing to gain a little intelligence and humor from Keeping Up With The Kardashians, though one of Kim’s Tweets may have caused me to amend such a view.) on a show called Chelsea Lately from 2007 to 2014.

Chelsea Handler, having been on Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2012, started a documentary series, Chelsea Does, where the comedian riffs on such matters as drugs, and how they make you feel after taking certain medicines. This also takes on such pressing matters as marriage and its influence on the woman’s life, and racism, taking on a matter-of-act, humorous persona about its effects.

On The Daily Caller, she is quoted as saying ‘he is defiling the White House,” in response to Donald Trump’s knowledge, or lack thereof, about how the government works. You may recall that Trump’s Muslim Ban got shot down by not one, not two, but THREE FEDERAL JUDGES. All the while, the 45th President of the United States has full blown temper tantrums akin to a junior high or high school girl, on Twitter, who just got shot down for the prom. He aggressively Tweets: “SEE YOU IN COURT! OUR DEMOCRACY IS AT STAKE!”

Uh, Donny, they’re judges. Of course you will. Dummy.

Recently, Handler participated in the Women’s Marches the day after Trump’s Inauguration. At a Democratic Retreat in Baltimore last Friday, Representative Joe Crowley of New York, also chairman of the House Democrat Caucus, told reporters “She wanted to be here.”

They loved having Handler at the retreat. Her personality, wit, and humor is what led so many members of ‘The Resistance’ to flock to her Netflix-exclusive show, Chelsea.

Speaking of her show, she is on the record as saying that she would never invite Trump or his wife, Melania, on her show, Quite simply, she’d tell Trump, like so many of us want to do, to ‘fuck off.’

She never made fun of Obama because ‘he was so responsible and such a leader.’

Catch new episodes of her show on Netflix every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Resist. Peace.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
