Probably the most difficult thing to go through is losing someone in your life. However, when you go through a breakup you don't just lose the person you loved dearly, but you may lose people who were almost like a second family to you. Dating someone for three years is no walk in the park, but it makes it a little bit easier when the breakup isn't hostile and somewhat mutual. When you're with someone for that long, you always hold a little piece of them in your heart and will always love them to a certain extent. But, along with loving them forever, you also grow quite attached to their family.
My ex-boyfriends family always treated me like their own daughter, and for that I am so grateful. Thank you for always supporting me along with supporting your son as well. Although it has been about a year since I've spoken to you, I am so grateful for the experience to not only get to know your son, but become a part of your family as well. You managed to keep me in mind when attending every one of your family functions, but you also let your son attend all of my family functions as well. You always treated me like a daughter, and were genuinely concerned about what was going on in my life.
Along with treating me like a daughter, you loved me like one too. There aren't enough words to show my gratitude to you for all that you've done to me. The only thing I wish for your son and you is that you all are happy. I hope that he finds happiness and I am truly grateful for the fact that we are still friends. Even though my relationship with him may have not worked out, I am so glad that I got to meet you in the process. You are amazing people and I wish you all the best.
