How America can be great again

Along with many others, I have a lot of emotion now that Donald Trump is president. He is (in my opinion) not fit to be a business man let alone running this country. Throughout his election his slogan was "Make America Great Again". How could he claim to make America great again when we were never really great? This is not me saying that I am not a proud American and that I do not love and respect every one of my rights but America never truly has been great. And I think that it is time to shine light that we are not perfect as we set out to be.

We took land that was not our's and we took that land and built a sometimes unfair nation. Throughout the years we have done things that are unjust and i fear for this nation if something does not change. With slavery, neglecting women's rights, unequal pay, and problems with racism today it is hard to say, but, America never has truly been as great as we claim it to be. And this is what I have to say to those who think that Donald Trump will truly "Make America Great Again".

One man cannot change America. Throughout the years there never really has been a time that America was one hundred percent okay for all Americans. We have had high percentages of homelessness, we allow our children to feel entitled, and we teach "how not to get raped" vs to not rape. Does that sound like a great place to be?

There is a way we can become great though. To make America great we need to change. Change as a nation. This change will not be easy and it will not be overnight but it can be done.I It may not be done with our new president either, that is why we need to truly change our nation ourselves. Why do we start by loving and caring for each other? Americans are quick to judge and send out hate but what is the use in putting others down?

These next four years with Trump as president lets take time to actually become great once again. I am not saying that America can change within these next four years with him as president but that we as Americans can internally make it a better place. I know, that sounds impossible but anything is possible (as cliche as it sounds). No matter what race, age, culture, or sexuality you are, you have the ability to make a change. No one can stop you from doing what you want in your lifetime and I hope that you take time to make a difference.

Take the time to actually make America great again by doing things to stop the hate. To end the sad way things are becoming. Help others, take a small portion of your day to make someone smile or help give someone something they would not be able to get otherwise. Share peace and end greed, end the idea that we have to be better than everyone else and be a better you. Parents, raise your children to respect more, to work for what they want and to know that the world does not owe them something. This will help end people being in power who do not deserve that power (end specific people being privileged). And everyone, learn to know that we should not teach how to not get raped but to teach that rape is not okay. Rape is not okay anywhere but teach to respect others, respect what "No" means, respect personal space.

And with this I leave you with one question, can you help with making America great again? Take time to rise up from what seems like the end and help make a difference.

Trump is by far not the president most of us signed up for but if we all try, we can make America Great Again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
