Rowing is great.
Rowing may even be awesome.
But what it really is, is life changing.
Being on a rowing team is the same as having a second family. You may even spend more time at the boathouse with your team than you do at home with your parents.
Your boat-mates become your best friends. Whether you're at practice or not it is more than likely that you are with them. You go through the good, the great, and the horrible together.
Rowing is such a tight knit community. Not many people row, but the ones who do, share a great bond. That bond can be seen at regattas and through the power of social media. Social media is used for rowing by people who may be hundreds of miles apart. That's the amazing thing about rowing in this era, you may never meet someone in person but you can connect with them and share experiences with the use of technology.
The biggest two-day regatta is on October 22nd and 23rd. The Head of the Charles attracts teams and spectators from all over the world. It is an amazing energetic regatta that is fun for anyone that attends. Hundreds of thousands of people will be in attendance and whether they are racing, volunteering or spectating they will make an impact.
Months of hard work lead up to one three mile race for teams from all around the world. The Charles River has the hardest course to steer and get through safely and without damaging your boat. With six bridges and a couple thousand boats, you never know what will happen.
Rowing is a sport full of comradely. Competitors will unite together to make it a phenomenal weekend for everyone.
