I am proud to admit that I am an obnoxious sorority girl.
I'm not lying when I say that after cleaning out my clothes, the majority of my T-shirts have my letters on them.
I brag and brag about ADPi and my sisters.
I throw diamonds and sing "Boom Boom" for any poor soul who will listen.
I am so proud to say that I am an Alpha Delta Pi.
I remember the exact moment I knew I was meant to be an ADPi, it was during pref night. All week I had been waiting to hear the word "loyalty" from anyone in any house, because loyalty is my thing. It took the whole week for someone to finally mention loyalty... and cue the tears and the lights shining down from Heaven showing me this was where I belonged. In that exact moment, I knew I had found my new home, but in my first year, I've learned that ADPi is so much more than the loud chants on bid day and the cute T-shirts with letters on them.
Perhaps my favorite thing about ADPi is our open motto, "We live for each other." It means one thing to die for someone, but to live for someone means that you're there for them through it all. I am proud to be an ADPi because I know that no matter how bad things get, I can count on my sisters to be there for me. From little things like bringing a computer charger to the library for a sister in need to the big things like helping a sister cope with a loss. I am proud to be ADPi because in ADPi I have found love, loyalty, and good friendships.
I am proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi, because I love our philanthropy. A lot of people like to say that Greeks don't do anything positive, but they would be wrong. Since partnering with them in 1979, ADPi has contributed over 11 million dollars to Ronald McDonald House Charities. I love that we get the chance to visit any RMH of our choosing and are able to see the difference we make.
Mainly, I am proud to be an ADPi, because I am proud of my sisters. I belong to such a wonderful group of girls who all bring something different to the table. We have leaders on campus, girls who literally sign up for everything and manage to do it all, we have girls who are so smart it's actually kinda scary. My sisters are talented singers and actresses and dancers. I have sisters that make crafts that could probably go in an art museum. My sisters are driven and ambitious and they work hard. They are funny and kind and beautiful in every way. I am proud to be an ADPi, because if it weren't for my sisters, I wouldn't be as confident in who I am.
Being in a sorority isn't about glitter or the social functions or even about getting to wear letters. Being in a sorority is about making yourself better, it's about how you treat your sisters, and it's about living up to the expectations your founders set all those years ago. I am proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi, because it has made me better and it has provided me with a sisterhood filled with strong women. I am so proud to be an Alpha Delta Pi and I wouldn't want it any other way.
