I am a proud sister of Alpha Delta Pi. I joined in the fall of 2013 and since then my life has been forever changed in the best way possible. With that being said, there are some aspects about ADPi that need to be addressed. Here are some reasons why my beloved sorority sucks.
1. Sisters are always going out on weekdays...to the library for sisterhood study dates. Alpha Delta Pi is the type of organization that is always encouraging its members to perform their very best. As members of this organization we hold our academic standing to the highest of standards. We regularly hold study dates at the library because it gives our sisters a chance to work together, and really focus.
2. Sisters only care about money...that we raise for our amazing philanthropy organization, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). One of the biggest events a sister will experience yearly is Lion Share. This is a grand event planned and put on by sisters to raise money for RMHC. The partnership fostered between RMHC and ADPi began in 1979, and since then ADPi has raised over 10 MILLION dollars in donations. In the 2014-15 academic year alone ADPi raised $1,192,640.52 for RMHC. For more information about RMHC please visit, http://www.rmhc.org
3. Sisters are always spending time with frat guys...working to combat sexual assault across the nation. On April 28th 2015, Alpha Delta Pi officially announced a partnership with Sigma Phi Epsilon on the campaign called Live Your Oath. This campaign is working to end sexual assault by teaching students about consent and appropriate ways to interact with others.
In a direct quote from the former international president of ADPi, Ms. Pinkston said, “While the issue of sexual assault is not confined to Greek organizations, we must encourage our members to engage in healthy and meaningful discussions that create and demand peer-driven change and safer environments." To learn more about Live Your Oath, search #LiveYourOath on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Google.
4. Sisters are constantly on social media...to share news about the causes we hold near and dear to our hearts. ADPi has helped sisters learn to use social media as a campaign tool to draw attention to charities, sisters who need support, and promote the other work executive boards other sisters have carried out. We as sorority woman are constantly striving to combat the ridiculous stereotypes slandering the hard work completed for multiple good causes.
