Some Advice To My Little Brother And Sister About High School

While you're in high school, you go through the four years thinking that these years are infinite, like you'll be here forever. You forget that there's life after high school, that college and adulting are actual things.

You're naive to the fact that you will get out of that hell hole of a place. When that day comes, when you're finally free of having to ask to use the bathroom, you're going to realize how pointless it was to care about the things you cared about through the past years.

You're going to wonder why you let the fact that people will judge who you are and what you like stop you from pursuing those things. The truth is, you're not going to see 98% of those people ever again after you flip that tassel. So, let them hate you and what you love.

Don't let them stop you. They're going to judge you no matter what.

Live those four years to the fullest. Don't let anyone get in your way. Love what and who you want to love. Put in effort to your school work. Have fun on the weekends. Take pictures at all the important events. Go to parties. Socialize. Do whatever makes you happy.

You will be stressed out so often, maybe more than you'd like to be. You're going to worry about things you wish you didn't worry about. You're going to get hurt once or twice, but hey, that's life. You'll be okay, and you will learn from your mistakes.

High school will be whatever you choose to make it. It can be fun. You will have fun. It can be annoying. Trust me, most of those kids will annoy you by the end of junior year, but you will make friends that will probably be lifelong friends.

In high school, you'll learn to realize who's a real friend and who's a fake friend. Don't let the fear of being alone keep you from standing up for yourself. Trust me, being alone is way better than feeling alone with a bunch of "friends".

If you ever need advice, I'm only a text away. You guys will have a blast in high school. Make sure you live it up and soak it all in because it will all be over so quickly. You'll be sitting in your room, the night before graduation, wondering where it all went.

Love,

Your big sister

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
