The Aces Movement

"An Ace symbolizes confidence, royalty, and high-value. We may have different suits and colors but we are all Aces. "

As a constant social media user, I'm very aware when patterns and trends start to appear on my newsfeed. Over the course of the summer, I consistently saw pictures and statuses surrounding the Aces Clothing Company, and it's only gotten more popular with each passing day. It's flooding Facebook, Twitter and now I'm even seeing it on Instagram.

I had seen students wearing the brand around campus, and at first glance, I thought the design was cool. Yet, I had never seen this brand in stores and wanted to know more about it. So I decided to go straight to the source to see what this "movement" was really about!

As a student, entrepreneur, and member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), Beta Chapter, Washington State University's very own Nick Price created The Aces Clothing Company.

Based out of Seattle, WA, the Aces Clothing Company started out as an idea back in August of 2011, and has recently transformed into a movement. With over 20 thousand followers on Twitter...it's clear that this is only the beginning of a bright future for Aces!

The idea for the brand came to Price shortly after turning 18 when playing a round of Blackjack at a local casino in Kirkland, WA.

"Every time I would receive an Ace, I immediately felt confident that I had the winning hand," said Price.

Aces Clothing Company was created to inspire that same feeling a person may get when holding that Ace card in their hand. Now, the idea is that the feeling is transported when you're wearing Aces clothing.

"I really wanted to create a brand that inspires a feeling of confidence and high value whether you're seeing it on the street or you're wearing it. Many brands provide clothing that appeals to the eye, but they have no underlying meaning. We are all unique and skilled in one or more areas of life. The Aces brand is symbolic of various individuals who excel and are skilled in their own way," said Price.

The Aces Clothing Company was created for men and women of all ages. According to Price, we may have different suites and colors, but we are all Aces.

Like most start-up brands, Aces came to life through word-of-mouth and on social media, thanks to Price's supporters and close friends. Now, individuals such as Minnesota Timberwolves Guard, Zach Lavine, Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver, Brandon Gibson, and Seahawks Rookie Outside Linebacker, Horace Miller, wear the clothing and have joined the Aces movement. The Aces Clothing Brand now represents more than just clothes, it's about exclusivity to individuals who feel and have demonstrated that they are skilled in a particular area of their life.

We all strive each day to be the best at what we do.

Aces Clothing promotes that notion, so what's stopping you?

After seeing all that Nick Price and the Aces Clothing Company has accomplished so far, I'm definitely for the cause! It's awesome that this was all created by a fellow Coug and I'm proud to show my support!

Will you join the Aces movement?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
