First things first: Being a brunch person is NOT the same thing as being a morning, or even a breakfast person. Brunch is strictly reserved for mid-afternoon; hence, not the morning. There are many nuances to what makes an excellent brunch, most of which simply depends on what you and your friends prefer.

Whether it is breakfast food focused, or provides endless lunch options, all brunches are unique. When you and your girlfriends or boyfriends discovered the beauty in eating whatever you want in the middle of the day, these are some things you probably experienced.

1. You start looking forward to waking up.

Even if you're still not a morning person, it's considerably easier to force yourself out of bed when you know Belgian waffles are in your near future.

2. Your friends uncover their inner bougie brunch enthusiast too.

When you become obsessed with something, it's only natural for you to coerce your friends into following suit. The more the merrier!

3. You discover the magic of BYOB.

Who wants to pay $10 for a single drink?!

4. Food coma naps.

Post-brunch naps are absolutely the best sleep you can experience in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Eat, sleep, repeat!

5. Cheers'ing Boomerangs on Instagram

You don't care how annoying your excessive drink Boomerangs are to the rest of your followers, and never will.

6. You create a brunch budget.

Why spend precious money on a boring breakfast every morning when you can just have coffee instead, then ball out on brunch the next weekend?

7. #Foodiestatus.

You eat amazing brunch every weekend, you're learning how to stealthily take bomb snaps of the spread before anyone eats, and follow a new food Instagram account every day; that makes you a foodie, right?

8. You realize the true beauty of your city.

If you live in a city, it is very likely that you are #blessed to have a plethora of restaurants to choose from that open their doors for the most beautifully diverse meal of the day. Architecture, museums, and parks are nice and all, but the true beauty of cities are the brunch restaurants.

9. Your friends love each other more.

If you can avoid arguing over how you're splitting the check, brunch can be thanked for reuniting and solidifying friendships that have begun to drift apart. As we get older our lives become more hectic, but taking the time to regularly catch up over amazing food can do wonders for helping you all remember why you became friends in the first place.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
