9 Things College Students Love And Hate About Thanksgiving

1. Love: All the amazing food.

As college students our lives are filled with whatever we can make quickly. Unfortunately that doesn't always include the best food. Thanksgiving offers us a chance to eat amazing homemade meals without having to put in the work.

2. Hate: The endless questions

What school do you go to? Whats your major? How are classes? Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? Why don't you come home more often? What are you going to do with that major? These are the questions that are the bane to every college students existence.

3. Love: Being with family

Sometimes being away for a while at school makes you realize how much you miss your family. They drive you crazy but they helped you become the person you are and you can't wait to get home and tell them all that has happened during the semester.

4. Hate: Assignments over break

There is always that one professor that excepts their students to use their break time for school. While we would rather give that professor a piece of our mind, we smile knowing the fact that the assignment won't be done until midnight the night before its due.

5. Love: Getting away from campus

While campus is an amazing place being home can also be nice. Its good to get away from the campus every once in a while. Anyway home is where the yummy food is which definitely isn't on campus.

6. Hate: Holiday traffic

The holidays always bring such joy and happiness to the world but they also tend to make people forget how to drive. The endless mass of cars on the highway make you question why going home was a good idea. You then promise never to do again....until Christmas that is.

7. Love: Thanksgiving leftovers

Leftovers have a special place in the heart of every college student but Thanksgiving leftovers are in a class of its own. We are all super grateful to our moms who send us back with tupperwares filled with the amazing leftovers.

8. Hate: The loom of final exams

While Thanksgiving means the end to the term it also means that finals are soon approaching. This scary thought makes students question whether or not its worth returning to the torture of final review sessions and all nighters in the library. TGFS (Thank God for Starbucks)

9. Love: The approach of Christmas

As Thanksgiving comes to a close it always a nice reminder that Christmas is right around the corner. The story of the nativity, stockings, trees, decorations and presents are not as far off as they seem as Novembers comes to a close.

The holidays may not be perfect but they are still an incredible time to enjoy with those you love. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
