9 NYC Bars That Should Be on Your Summer List
Best Outdoor Bars and Drinking Spots

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year; Spring. Besides beautiful sun-kissed women in spring dresses and the sound of ice cream trucks approaching your neighborhood, everyone is looking forward to staying out late and enjoying the best happy hours NYC has to offer. Here are 9 hotspots that should be on your summer list:

Habana Outpost: Indulge in the outdoor seating with your frozen margarita, frozen daiquiri, frozen Pina Colada or a spiked lemonade. Being the first and only solar-powered business in NYC, the outpost is closed until summer but you will want to keep this place on your “go-to” list to enjoy their Sunday movies or to just be social and meet new people while the DJ is doing his thing.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar: Visit on Taco Tuesday after 7 p.m. for a $20 margarita pitcher (about 6 glasses of margaritas) or try their passion or strawberry mojitos for only $10.00 every day. Don’t forget to order an entrée and check in on Yelp for a free shot of tequila.

Uno's Pizzeria & Grill: I know what you’re thinking. A pizzeria chain? Try their pomegranate margarita while munching on Chicago style pizza and you will no longer be scoffing. Their $5 classic margaritas are heaven sent. It’s also a great family environment where kids eat free on Tuesdays!

McKenna’s Pub: Grab a friend and enjoy a Blue Long Island Ice Tea or a whiskey/ginger (They use Jameson as their house liquor!). Drinks are 2-for-1 every day from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. Forget a happy hour, have a happy day!

Rachel’s Taqueria: For what it’s worth, Rachel’s is a good spot for larger parties, not so ideal for groups of 2 unless you wouldn’t mind the tight seating in the front of the restaurant. What they lack in space, they definitely make up for in drink quality. Try the Red Hook Special meal with a delicious Frozen Pink Lemonade Margarita for only $7, or -- if you’re really about it -- their Mad Dog Margarita for only $10.50. You’re welcome.

Burrito Bar: This is the perfect spot, located only a few feet away from Barclay’s Center, to grub for cheap eats and delicious drinks (even outside of happy hour). Snack on their Mile High Nachos or settle for their complimentary chips, and enjoy the “Hippie Hour” Mondays through Fridays, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Sundays through Thursdays from 11 p.m. to midnight; Thursdays are ladies night, ‘Hippie Hour” all night at the bar. Try the pomegranate margarita or ask for about their shot specials to fully understand why Brooklyn loves Burrito Bar.

Gonzalez y Gonzalez: A great spot to eat, drink, and get your salsa on while enjoying their happy hour from Mondays to Saturdays, 12pm – 8pm. Try one of their special frozen margaritas (flavored and lime) and their special Blue Lui, which are usually $5 or $6. The atmosphere is cozy and seats are limited. Tip: Get there before 6 p.m. if you plan on eating, otherwise standing at the bar and mingling is always fun.

Bar none: If you want to enjoy cheap shot/ drinks and hang with the college crowd, this dark and twisty spot definitely has you covered! Enjoy drafts and well drinks for only $3 from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m., and then 11 p.m. – 12 a.m. Also, enjoy Karaoke on Thursdays and Live music on Fridays. It’s one of the places to visit to get your weekend started.

Senor Frogs: With a happy hour lasting from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day, this Mexican chain is perfect for a night out with a group of friends down for the fun! Playing games, dancing and wearing goofy balloon hats are the ultimate tourist trap activities, that even the locals enjoy. The price of these delicious drinks vary each hour; at 3 p.m. you pay $3 and after 7 p.m., you pay the standard $7.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
