It's Sunday night, you're counting down the hours in fear as Monday quickly approaches. You spent all week anticipating the weekend only for it to pass in the blink of an eye. I think we can all agree that weekends just aren't long enough, and Mondays are a cold slap in the face after a warm weekend of freedom.

Here are 8 things you can do to beat the Monday blues:

1. Prepare for launch

Take a few hours before bed Sunday night to plan out your Monday. Some people prefer to plan out their whole week, but for the purpose of getting through Monday, let's stick with one day. Make a to-do list so you'll have some clarity during your day.

2. Breakfast breakfast breakfast

Do not underestimate the power of breakfast! Whether its a quick on the go granola bar/protein shake, or some scrambled eggs and toast, having breakfast will start you off on a good note and get your brain juices flowing.

3. Give yourself wake up time

Whether it's scrolling mindlessly through Instragram for ten minutes, yoga, journaling, or enjoying a cup of coffee in silence, let your brain wake up. There's nothing worse than rushing around and out the door feeling like you're still half asleep. Giving yourself a few extra minutes to just 'be' will help your brain and body wake up before you head off into the busy day.

4. Dress to impress

When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good. This is a lesson that I learned a long time ago and it still reigns true. Maybe for you it's a comfy pair of leggings and your favorite hoodie, or maybe it's a fancy dress and fashionable boots. Whatever it is, if it makes you feel good you'll have a much better day than just throwing on something that wasn't dirty. Take time to make yourself feel good in the morning and I can guarantee your Monday will be brighter.

5. Help your hanger

Pack yourself a delicious nutritious lunch that you'll look forward to. Maybe it's your favorite food, like pizza or last nights pasta, or maybe it's a well made sandwich with your favorite chips and pasta salad. Whatever it is make it snazzy and something you'll enjoy. Don't forget snacks! There's nothing worse than being mid way through your work day and feeling like you're starving. Lunch already passed and five pm is just too far away. Fill your bag with delicious healthy snacks that you'll look forward to enjoying. Maybe even include some treats like cookies or candy. It'll reboost your energies and satisfy till dinner time.

6. Enjoy your commute!

Admire the sunrise! Make a commute playlist of your favorite jams! Play a podcast of that book you've been meaning to read! This is your time to get from one place to the other. Don't spend it worrying about the days tasks or mulling over stressors. There's still plenty of hours left in your day to get tasks done. Enjoy what's left of your morning!

7. Attack the day in parts

Rather than viewing the day as 8-10 hours long, view it in increments. How many hours till lunch? The next meeting? A mental break? Etc. Take it hour by hour. You got it!

8. Monday Motivation

Take a few minutes during your day to seek some motivation. There are tons of really awesome motivational calendars out there that can help get you through the day. But if you're not into calendars or motivational notebooks, try following some daily inspiration pages or Instagram pages. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
