8 Tips For Sigma Psi Omega's Rush Week
McKenzie Schooley

As the president of USAO's only sorority, Sigma Psi Omega, the beginning of the semester is a crazy busy time for me. But I am so so excited to meet all our potential new members and get to know them all! Rush Week 2016 is THIS WEEK! So in honor of rush, I thought I would give you all a few tips for the week. So from the president to you, here are eight tips for a rushing Sigma Psi.

1. Be Yourself!

This is absolutely the most important piece of advice I can give you. We really want to get to know you. The real you. We pride ourselves on the diversity of personalities, majors, and cultural backgrounds within our sisterhood. We would love to get to know you!

2. Don't Be Intimidated!

We are all just normal girls like you. We want this week to be fun, not anxiety inducing. We want you to feel comfortable around us.

3. Attend As Many Events As Possible!

The more we see your smiling face, the more we get to know the person behind it. If you can't attend, let us know! We understand busy schedules, let us know you're still interested!

4. Don't Just Attend; Be Involved!

We love to see initiative when it comes to getting to know other rushees and current members. The more you participate, the more fun you'll have. This week is all about fun.

5. Don't Be Afraid To Speak Up And Ask Questions!

We're here to make sure you are fully educated on who we are and what we are about before you make a commitment. There are no stupid questions! And if you have a question, chances are someone else was wondering the same thing.

6. Bring A Friend!

Having someone you know go through this experience can make it more enjoyable and less awkward! And of course, the more the merrier!

7. Don't Be Afraid To Approach Us Outside Of Rush Events!

We are here to guide you through the rushing experience and help you adjust to college life. Let us know how we can help you; I promise we don't bite!

8. Have Fun!

Relax and enjoy the events we have planned just for you! Your enjoyment is important to us and would love your feedback!

I hope these tips will help you throughout this week. Can't wait to meet all of you!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
