Here you are, you have prepared for this moment your entire life. You have woken up early for practices, sweat unruly amounts of times in the weight rooms, lacked a social life just to get here.... College athletics. What many people do not realize, the life of a college athlete is a tough one. It is and never will be easy no matter how badly you want to think that it is. If you are a collegiate athlete or a friend of a collegiate athlete this article is for you. Enter into the thoughts of a collegiate athlete.
1. "I hate my life!"
You wake up in the morning for a practice/meet/game, and seeing that it is still dark outside, this is the first thought going through your mind. You don't actually hate your life, but for that moment, you cannot stand your life.
2. "I quit!"
For the record, you are never going to quit. Every day you reach a point where you think to yourself, I'm just going to quit. But, you know that you love your sport way too much to do so, but just saying that phrase at least once is somewhat relaxing for whatever reason.
3. "WHAT THE F*CK"
"Get on the line!" WTF; Teammate misses a pass, WTF; forgets brace, WTF; "you're out for the rest of the season.", WTF! And many more things causes the athlete to say what the f*ck, more often than none.
4. "I wonder what Coach would do if I just walked out right now"
Sometimes you just want to leave in the middle of a really intense workout, but you are afraid what your coach will do. But the thought of leaving still crosses your mind regardless.
5. "If it wasn't for the money"
The scholarship isn't the only reason you are being a college athlete, but it isn't not a reason. Helps pays for college, of course I'll break my back trying to balance workouts and classes.
6. "If I get 'hurt' maybe coach will let me stop"
But that isn't really the case
7. "Wonder if Coach will end practice early"
They aren't going to end practice early, but the hope is still there.
8. "Is it game/meet day yet?"
Almost..... it almost is.
