Sometimes life can seem extremely intimidating. It can seem like the heaviest and most opposing weight on our shoulders. Most of the time however, this weight is self-inflicted and created by ourselves. Sometimes we just overthink things and over complicate life, when really it can be as simple as a minor change or just a few words. Sometimes it's just a few simple words that are needed, and they can hold the power to change our entire mindset for the day, and sometimes that's all we need. Here are 8 things you need to hear right now...
1. You matter, and you are cared for.
I promise you one thing that is certain, and that is the fact that you matter. No matter who you are or what you are doing with your life, you matter to someone. Someone's life would change if you ceased to exist. Your life matters, and there is always someone out there that is happy that you exist. I'm happy that you are reading this, and I am happy that you exist.
2. What's stressing you right now, probably won't matter in 5 years.
Chances are the thing keeping you up at night right now, and the thing causing your bad moods or your stress... You won't even remember it existed in 5 years. So why are you letting it ruin your day and your happiness? Change what you have the power to change, and be brave enough to let the rest go.
3. Things are going to work out.
Maybe things aren't going to work out as you planned, maybe instead they're going to work out exactly how they're supposed to and it's going to change your life. Worrying, wondering, and doubting will never fix anything, so stop wasting your time stressing and have a little faith instead. One way or another things will work out, and you will get through this.
4. Start today.
Whatever it is that you're planning to do, or that you have thought about doing-- whether it's that new workout, the change you've been planning to make, picking up meditation, reaching out to an old friend, joining a new group, or even a new project that has been on your mind, start it today. Stop counting on tomorrow because they're not guaranteed. The only thing guaranteed is today and right now, start today and you'll be one day further.
5. You are entitled to your emotions and feelings.
Though emotions are changeable things, they are also facts. You feel something simply because you do, and that's reason enough. You don't need to explain the way you feel to anyone, even emotions that you feel are silly or irrational can still be valuable and have the right to be felt. It's okay to not be okay all the time. Don't hide your emotions, after all, you're a human not a robot.
6. There is something you could be doing today to make yourself a better person.
Whether it be just a small random act of kindness or a bit of self-reflection, there is always room for improvement. Add an extra few reps to your workout, wake up a little earlier to get more done, learn something new, take time to look at yourself and just do one thing a little bit better, kinder, and stronger. You'll be surprised at how these day to day positive advances can add up.
7. Order dessert.
You heard me, that chocolate cake flirting with you from across the cafe? Order it. Don't deny yourself the small pleasures in life. Seriously, eat the dessert and stop taking life so seriously -- no one makes it out alive anyways.
8.Trust, love, and have faith.
Keep choosing love. Keep choosing to trust people and to give love a chance. Even if you've been hurt in the past, don't let that harden you. Don't let the world make you hard or turn you cold.
