When I was a kid, I didn’t like coloring very much. Coloring a whole entire picture was too much for me. I can attribute this to being unable to color inside the lines, thinking it was monotonous and my motor skills not being quite up to par. As an adult, I love to color. Here’s why.
1. You get to use whatever medium you want.
Whether you like markers, crayons, or colored pencils, nobody can tell you what to use. If they do, you can tell them to be an adult and tell them to worry about more important things such as the economy and Donald Trump running for president.
2. You can color whatever you want.
Whether it be flowers, mandalas, or mac and cheese, there is variety.
3. It helps you relax.
Coloring is a calming and therapeutic activity that you can do by yourself and with friends.
4. You dabble in creativity.
Which color will I choose? Which masterpiece am I going to make today? You will answer that.
5. It helps you with your patience.
Coloring slowly and with even strokes takes patience and practice. Coloring has helped me become more patient in my daily life.
6. You can take it anywhere.
Mine is pretty small, so it can fit in my Kavu. I have colored in an airport, on a plane, and on a ministry retreat this past weekend.
7. You have your very own art to hang places or Instagram.
Whatever it is you do these days.
