While all the hype is about traveling to Europe or New Zealand, I think it is time to add some USA destinations to that traveler's bucket list. Here are eight authentic, natural attractions that may possibly need more credit than they already have!
1. EBEN ICE CAVES, MICHIGAN
These caves are formed when melting snow runs over the edge of a small cliff and freezes, forming “ice caves." Grab your hiking shoes (and maybe your snow shoes, too) and find your way to this frozen magic!
2. GRAND PRISMATIC SPRING, WYOMING
This hot spring is the third largest hot spring in the world! It disperses 560 US gallons of 160°F water per minute. The colors leave those who visit absolutely speechless. Be sure to hike the mountain for a chance to see the spring from a bird's eye view. Apparently it is the best seat in the house!
3. ANTELOPE CANYON, NAVAJO LAND, ARIZONA
A long time ago, herds of pronghorn antelope roamed freely here, hence the name, Antelope Canyon. The canyon walls go up about 120 feet! This natural beauty was created mostly from flash flooding, so check the weather before you go.
4. HAVASU FALLS, ARIZONA
Not only are there are picnic tables near this mineral pool, but it's actually possible to swim behind the waterfall and enter a small rock shelter behind it! It is also within Havasupai tribal lands. Cool.
5. WHITAKER POINT, ARKANSAS
Imagine having a first kiss at the edge of that rock? This view in Ozark National Park screams fairytale. The hike is only a 3-mile round trip, with plenty of huge boulders, beautiful waterfalls, and colorful wildflowers to admire along the way!
6. ZION NATIONAL PARK, UTAH
This is Utah's oldest national park! This park's unique array of plants, animals, colors, and history will have you busy all day. This beauty landmark is not only perfect for rock-climbing and camping, it also has the most scenic driving route.
7. SKAGIT VALLEY TULIP FIELDS, WASHINGTON
Come to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival as millions of tulips bloom during the springtime! This adventure is specifically a driving tour, so pack some road trip snacks and a map.
8. ONEONTA GORGE, OREGON
Enjoy yourself on this short hike to the famous waterfalls! You actually have to trek through a pond about three feet deep to finally reach the waterfalls, but it's fun and the views make it all worth it.
