8 New Artists To Listen To This Fall
Consequence of Sound

With a new season right around the corner, it’s time to update your wardrobe, your schedule, and your playlist. Finding new music can be difficult sometimes, but don’t worry, I’ve done it for you. From indie to rock to pop and everything in between, these artists have what it takes to make their way onto your fall playlist! Some of these artists are new on the scene but some of them can also just be new to you. Either way, get ready to expand your musical horizons.

1. Local Natives

Local Natives newest album Sunlit Youth was released on September 9. The band makes indie rock music and they are best known for their killer harmonies and dreamy melodies. The album is led by the single “Fountain of Youth” and Local Natives is currently on tour!

2. Bastille

Back in 2013, this band’s single “Pompeii” is what put them on the charts. They followed up with “Bad Blood” and “Flaws”, which really cemented their place in the indie music scene. Now they’ve released their second album, Wild World, that takes their signature electronic rock sound to a new level.

3. EDEN

EDEN is a fairly new group. They released their second EP and the lead single “Sex” has been the single to grab attention from listeners around the world. While their first EP didn’t give them the mainstream attention that their second has, every song EDEN makes is sure to inch its way into your playlist.

4. Glass Animals

Glass Animals is yet another band who has just released a follow-up album. They’re more electronic than other groups on this list, and their lyrics and vocals hook you in and create songs that you can’t stop listening to. The first single off of their album “Life Itself” is an upbeat pop song that you can dance around to at any time!

5. Kaleo

Kaleo have the sound of a rocky soul group from the South, but in reality, they’re from Iceland. Their ability to create such music is sure to leave you confused but really happy because all of their songs are wonderful! Their album A/B was released in June, which is kind of far back, but I guarantee you might not have been exposed to their music just yet.

6. Saint Motel

Saint Motel contains what I would consider the most pleasing indie pop sound. Their sound is a blend of retro and rock, and most of their singles are highly known for the horn section that’s featured in the chorus. Their latest single “Move” is a perfect example of their signature sound and is an awesome start to the next project the group is working on.

7. Bad Suns

This group has released three singles so far for their next album, each better than the last. Bad Suns released their first album in 2014, and while it has been two years since, their new sound is even better. The group gets their inspiration from the 70s and 80s to create a perfect indie rock sound.

8. Dagny

Dagny is a Norwegian pop singer who just released her debut EP at the beginning of this month! Her EP contains five songs, one being a collab with BØRNS, and if that doesn’t sell you on her pop perfection I’m not sure what will. Each song is dance-worthy and sure to get you off of your feet.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
