Coming to a new school can be overwhelming, and activity fairs can be even more overwhelming, with so many different opportunities to get involved and join clubs and activities you're not quite sure which table to stop at. So here's a list of just a few opportunities of things to get involved with at the University of Cincinnati.
1. Clubs within your major:
Now this category is limitless. There are normally groups or clubs the meet for every major, and if not created yet there's opportunity to create one, or one is in the works of being created. Some examples of these groups would be for Communication and/or Public Relation students would be UCommunicate & CommuniCATS or PRSSA . For marketing students there's opportunities like the American Marketing Association, as well as a business fraternity; Alpha Kappa Psi, and plenty more. Just ask a professor what different opportunities are available in your major, grab a friend and head to a meeting!
2. Club & Intramural Sports:
From soccer, lacrosse, disc golf, even cricket all sorts of club sports are at your finger tips. Club sports are a bit different than intramural in the fact that you travel to other universities around and get to compete against them rather than against your peers at UC. But, don't hesitate to get a team together and join a intermural sport. Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, pretty much anything and anything you could think of, you can get a team together and play.
3. Various Christian Groups:
Navigators, H20, Younglife, Cru and others. Many of these groups meet on various nights of the week doing large group bible studies, small group bible studies, and plenty of other get togethers to just have fun. Try each one out and find out which one is best for you. All groups are open to all students who are interested in developing spirutal direction in their lives, but also having a blast while doing so, no student is turned down.
4. Greek Life:
A given at any university, University of Cincinnati Greek life is like no other with 3,100 students involved in various fraternities and sororities, find which one is best for you and get a home away from home. 5. Student Government:
Although most of these positions are now closed and you have to apply to be apart of it, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and become known in the Student Government until the upcoming year of elections. Student Government gives you opportunities to make a difference on and off campus, and become known to the student body!
6. PAC - Programs & Activities Council:
Interested in helping plan Welcome weekend, Ono fest, movies nights on Sigma Sigma and so many other student events? Well PAC is for you. PAC plans and helps put on all these events for students to have fun at and enjoy. 7. On Campus Job:
Now this may not be a club or activity, but if you want to make a few extra bucks and don't have a car to drive else where, look at on campus jobs. From libraries, Starbucks, TUC, and various other places the on campus job opportunities are endless. And normally through your co-workers you find more and more opportunities to get involved on campus!
8. CHAARG:
Hey ladies!!! Interested in getting in better shape, while having a blast, with a group of super inspirational and motivational women? Then CHAARG is the place for you! With large group meetings where you do various workouts inside and outside and then meetings with a small group where you workout with a group of 7-10 ladies to help improve your health. You get to pick which day of the week works best for your small group workout, and large group is on Monday nights. Interested? Grab a friend and check out the informational night on Wednesday August 31, at 6pm in McMicken room 127.
