It's never easy to wake up from that summer haze, but now that summer has come to an end, I've collected a few tips on how to let this school year go by in a breeze. Following these steps can brighten your school year and guide you into the right direction. We all miss being relaxed during our Summer vacation, so be relaxed during school too! Here are eight tips for you to follow to help you have a better school year.
1. Set goals and know your limits.
Get an idea of what you are aiming to achieve! Take classes that intrigue you and study hard, and join sports that you've always wanted to try and practice hard. But, try not to go overboard! You're still a student; go after what you want to do while maintaining balance!
2. Be prepared.
Have all of your supplies together and remember to bring what you need in class that day. Being prepared always comes in handy. Don't be that kid who always forgets his supplies and tells his friends "I don't even care" after he gets yelled at by the professor; have all your supplies ready and avoid that kind of bad rep with your teacher!
3. Be positive.
So much easier said than done, but get into that positive mindset! A positive attitude and mindset can take help you be progressive in your work and can also build helpful relationships with people.
4. Get a planner.
Jot down your daily responsibilities to get them done. Having a planner will enhance your time-management skills which are extremely important in becoming a successful student and worker!
5. Start early.
Don’t procrastinate.. Just don’t. You probably already know why you shouldn't procrastinate. Start early and end early! Procrastination will stress you out and overwhelm you, so try to balance out your day accordingly.
6. Meet your people.
Popularity isn't important. Find the people that make you happy! It could be one friend, or multiple friends. Either way, high school isn't something you should have to go through alone. Meeting the right people for you will better your high school experience and improve your people skills. Don't worry if some friends don't stick around or if you need new friends, there are always more people!
7. Get involved.
Get involved in your community! Not only does it look good on your college resume to be involved, but this is your community and it benefits those in it! Sign up for volunteer work or join a community group. Your experiences in getting involved will benefit both you and your community.
8. Live the experience!
You only have four or less years of high school left! Make your one high school experience count and make some good memories! Remember that studying is the easiest part of life so try to learn more than note taking during high school. Have fun and have a great year!
