Being in a sorority can have a lot of perks, but getting a little is definitely one of biggest. Your little is your younger, cuter, better half, who learns from you just as much as you learn from her. In many big/little pairs, that person becomes one of your closest friends in the sorority. In fact, they've turned from friends into family. Before your little officially becomes your little, there is so much fun and suspense in store, that will bring you guys closer in ways you don't even realize. The long anticipation of reveal day is almost as exciting as the fact that you have this new, tiny person you are somehow responsible for to make sure they have the best four years of their life. Of course, with you right by their side every step of the way. Here are some of the absolute best parts about getting a little:
1. Making a Facebook account dedicated to her.
Making a FB for your little is the best because it's your golden opportunity to embarrass her in every way possible using old pics from the awkward middle school stage and all those hilarious solo shots of them that they wish they had deleted. This is the part where you can get really creative and give them a good laugh.
2. Spoiling her with gifts upon gifts.
There's nothing that gets your little more excited than when she receives her very first gifts. Bid day was probably her most exciting time in the sorority thus far, but big/little week definitely takes a close second. Giving her her first shirt (of many) kind of gets you feeling like a sentimental mom. Now she gets to wear the shirt to class, to the gym, wherever, just like many typical greek-repping girls all over campus.
3. Sending frat pledges to her room.
This one's definitely a highlight because you can have so much fun with telling them what to do. This can range from them singing, reading poems, delivering food and flowers or even having them give your little lapdances. The options are endless and no doubt your little will love the surprises.
4. Constantly tricking her about who her big is.
Where's the fun in big/little week if who you are is obvious? There isn't any! Tricking your little into thinking it's not you or making it out to be someone else is the perfect way to mess with their heads. Keep posting false clues on that FB account, have other people text your little with misleading information, etc. Make the suspense worth it!
5. Decorating her room.
Filling up her entire bed with shirts, food, decorations, posters, goodies is one of the best ways to shower your little with love and make her feel like a princess. This part really makes your little feel special and grateful to be in the sorority. You remember just how hard your big worked to make your room look amazing so you want to do just as good of a job for your little now.
6. Learning about all her favorite things.
Through this crazy process of getting a little and having to wait about a week to actually get to hang out as a big/little duo, it can turn into an opportunity for you to learn a lot about what she likes. Just like this FB post for example, you can uncover the kind of person she is whether it's her filling out a list of questions or from all that FB stalking you did. It's actually pretty cool to just focus in on one person in your sorority and find out how much you have in common with them.
7. Reveal day.
So. Many. Feels. It's literally the most hype day to ever exist in sorority life, except for bid day of course. For the girl known as the "little" she's probably nervous out of her mind if she's going to get the person she wants or not. But as the "big," we don't have that fear and are just beyond excited to see our little's reaction, give her the biggest hug ever, and finally have that secret out in the open.
8. Having her in your life forever.
Even though this week is full of fun, crazy moments and surprises, the absolute best part about getting a little is having a mini-me for not only the next four years, but for life. The bond between a big and a little is irreplaceable and after reveal day, the journey is only just getting started for all the memories you are bound to make together, as you take on the world (and the frats) like the dynamic duo that you are.
