The 7 Things I Love About DJ Khaled
The Heat

Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day, and all those willing can ride with him through his journey of continued success. DJ Khaled sounds like the best valentine and here are there seven things I love about him.

1. He knows how to make the most of any situation.

The infamous jet-ski incident comes to mind here. Though he apparently became lost at sea while cruising around on his jet ski, DJ Khaled kept us updated as he attempted to find shore. He didn’t let a minor mishap keep him from staying positive and communicating with his fans — he used it to remind us to have faith during the most difficult of times and to hang in there no matter what!

2. He is motivational.

Anyone who has added DJ Khaled on Snapchat is no stranger to his “elliptical talk” — and occasional “treadmill talk.” He gives us the encouragement we need to get up and get moving — after all, he looks like he is having the time of his life sweating it out on those machines! DJ Khaled also teaches us the important skill of multitasking. If he can hold his phone up to document his entire workout session, so can we.

3. He is gracious and kind to the people most important to him.

Prime example: Chef Dee. DJ Khaled doesn’t try to hide the fact that he has a lot of people helping him out in his life. Not only does he give his fans a detailed description of every fabulous meal he eats, but he then proceeds to show us the woman behind the gourmet creations, Chef Dee, even though she usually does not appear too thrilled to be featured. Nonetheless, it is a demonstration of gratefulness, an important trait DJ Khaled possesses.

4. He shows love for his fans.

DJ Khaled is also not one to forget about those who helped reach the level of fame and fortune he has achieved. From selfies on jet skis to the red carpet, he does not hesitate to mingle with his fans and make them a major part of his life on social media. It shows how down to earth and humble he is, and how he wants to show each and every fan the role they’ve played in his success.

5. He reminds us to bless up.

When feeling down and ungrateful for everything that has gone wrong in your life, look no further than DJ Khaled to help you be a little more thankful. His now-famous expression “bless up” is a simple reminder to be grateful for what we have in our lives. He even offers us a solution if we really cannot push through on our own: to ride with him through the journey of more success!

6. He gives back.

It was a delightful surprise to see DJ Khaled go beyond the required duties of his career and do something to benefit the larger community. On Jan. 20, he filled in as Principal for the day at Carol City Middle School in Miami to reward them for winning the Get Schooled 2015 Fall Attendance Challenge. Not only did DJ Khaled have the opportunity to spread his wisdom to the school population, but he also showed support for children going to school so they can get the best education to succeed!

7. He encourages good hygiene.

From applying cocoa butter and washing his face regularly to practically downing a bottle of Listerine, DJ Khaled is constantly reminding us to take care of ourselves and stay clean. This is important for two reasons: one, because we don’t typically get such an intimate snapshot into the lives of celebrities. And two, we really can’t argue with that logic.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
