7 Stages Of Packing Before You Move

Packing, whether for a vacations or to move, sucks. Vacation packing is terrible because of the fact that you have to choose outfits days before you plan on wearing them, which if you are like any normal woman, is an impossible task.

Packing up to move, however, is a lot worse. You think is should be easy, like "I just need to bring all of my stuff." But you do not think about all the stuff you actually have and how much of it you do not need to and should not bring.

For me, a pro-procrastinator, packing is a struggle. These are the stages I went through as I got ready to move into my new place.

Stage 1: Planning

Three weeks ago, when I signed my lease, I made a mental list of all the things I needed to pack and what I had to do before moving. But, obviously, that did not mean I was going to check anything off that list anytime soon.

Stage 2: Denial

"I actually do not have that much to pack, it will take me like an hour, tops." This is, in fact, not something that happened. I did not feel the need to pack because I did not think I had anything to pack.

Stage 3: Procrastination

I have known that I have been moving for about three weeks now. I decided to pack the day before, because, you know, it does not make sense to do it slowly over those few weeks.

Stage 4: Mild Panic

At one week until move-in day, I realized I had not done a single thing. Literally, not a single thing.

Stage 5: Procrastination (Part 2)

This stage of procrastination comes with jokes about how I still have not done anything. Laughing it off, like it not big deal, until my soon-to-be roommate glares at me and shockingly questions if I am being serious.

Stage 6: Full Panic

Two days before move-in day at 11 p.m., I realize I still have not done a single thing. Then I start thinking about all that I actually have to pack and then the real panic sets in.

Stage 7: Beast Mode

I may be a pro-procrastinator but I am also a pro at getting s#%& done when I need to get it done. Day before move-in day, I pack everything I need in a few hours with just the necessities for tomorrow to pack.

I do not recommend following these stages of packing. And I am sure most people don't, considering most people are a lot more organized and orderly than me.

However, if you do decide to follow my packing method, make sure you do not skip the last stage, as that is, obviously, the most important stage. Beast mode must be done correctly, or you will most definitely not pull off this strategy quite as flawlessly as me.

Now it is time for the really fun parts, moving and unpacking.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
