For many students move out day is one of the best and worst days of the year. The best because, um hey, IT'S SUMMER. The worst because it's time to leave all the wonderful, or not so wonderful, people you have been living with. People you now consider your closest friends and family. One by one you pack your belongings into bags and boxes, say your goodbyes and go your separate ways. And packing is one of the most satisfying feelings....when you finish. Below are some of the thoughts I had while getting ready to finish my freshman year of college.

1. Alright let's do this.

Me @ packing

2. Time to pack my life into inconspicuous brown boxes.

3. Wow, I have a lot of stuff.

4. How did I even collect this much?

5. Heaviest things on the bottom.

6. It's like playing Tetris, but with important things.

7. I hope no one steals this box.

8. Maybe I shouldn't ship my expensive things.

9. Oh well.

10. Still not going to pay for shipping insurance.

11. If I shove clothes between things, it's like killing two birds with one stone.

12. But what if I want to wear that before I leave?

13. I know I won't actually wear it before leaving.

14. But still...

15. WHERE DID I GET ALL THIS STUFF??

16. I definitely didn't bring all of this with me.

17. Wait.

18. Yeah, no, I didn't bring this much.

19. Oh, shiny.

20. If I turn it this way maybe it will fit better.

21. This doesn't fit at all.

22. Where did I put the tape?

23. Wow, one box down.

24. Go me.

25. I am the packing queen.

26. How do I STILL HAVE SO MUCH LEFT?

27. What is this sorcery??

28. I hate this.

29. I'll just lay on this pile of clothes I need to pack.

30. This is surprisingly comfortable.

31. Never getting up.

Me after packing all day

32. I need music.

33. This would be so much more enjoyable with music.

34. I don't need this anymore.

35. Or this.

36. I should just start a bag.

37. How can one pack for hours and still have so much left.

38. Let's put everything left to pack in one area.

39. Wow, I have so much room.

40. It's so empty.

41. Hey.

42. Is that...?

43. Oh my god.

44. I've been looking for this forever.

45. It's been right here this whole time?

46. I should have listened to my parents about organizing.

47. Seriously, what the heck.

48. Who needs packing?

49. Not me.

50. I can finish tomorrow.

51. I'm just gonna sit here, and fiddle with this long lost thing forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
