Being in California for school, there are just some things I miss about home. Columbia, Missouri has some great things to offer and while some of these things might be foreign to outsiders, residents of Columbia experiences them often.
1. I'll have the Mizzou, with a side of Mizzou, and some Mizzou to go.
If you live in a college town, you might see the school logo here and there. But if you live in Columbia, you dress in full on Mizzou attire, being sure to leave out your dog as well.
2. Straight outta COMO.
Everyone refers to Columbia, MO as COMO. While it makes sense, I personally don't know how it came about or when, but I'm sure it'll continue to be around for a while.
3. Broadcasting live from ESPN "Battle vs. Hickman" Football.
You would think people were talking about college level sports, but nope, they're talking about high school sports. Players are treated like celebrities, especially if they got some really good offers on the table.
4. iPhone storage is full. Please delete the 1,000 photos you have of sunsets.
When you live in Columbia, most days you are blessed with the most beautiful sunsets. And you can't help but capture every single one that you see. Even if that means stopping your car in the middle of the road, and capturing this.
5. Hotbox is life.
Yes, Hotbox Cookies is one of the best things you can experience in Downtown Columbia. Every time they hold a contest on twitter, you can bet every high school student is retweeting them in hopes of some free cookies.
6. CPS will be closed today.
Whether you get this text the night before or at 5 o'clock in the morning, you can't help but be grateful for snow. As a senior, this can almost bring tears to your eyes because now you have an extra day to study for that AP exam.
7. Your prom pictures have the same background as the other 200 seniors who went to prom.
Almost every person who goes to prom takes their pictures at Shelter's Garden. While it is one of the most beautiful places in Columbia, surely someone photo bombed the one good picture you captured.
