7 Reasons I Can't Wait To Go Home To Jersey

PSU is awesome, but some things in Jersey will forever have my heart.

Going home to the Jersey Shore after a long, dark, cold winter is the only thing keeping me going for these next two weeks. Penn State is lovely and I adore my university, but there are some things that the Jersey shore has to offer that Penn State just doesn't.

Here are just a few reasons I am longing for spring break in Jersey:

1. Pork Roll Egg and Cheese

I've said it once, I'll say it again: Pork roll is a gift from above. It is perfection and putting it with egg and cheese on a bagel with salt pepper ketchup is everything I've ever asked for. It's been so long since I've had the honor of eating one and I just cannot wait to be reunited with my everything.

2. The Beach

If there is anything I love more than Penn State Football, it has to be the beaches on the Jersey Shore. Even though the warm weather just started, I cannot help but itch for the summer and the feeling of sinking my feet into the beautiful warm Jersey sand.

3. My Best Friends

I love my friends at Penn State, but I cannot wait to be reunited with the people who loved me through all of my awkward stages. Sometimes, it sucks being away from the people who know what you're going to say before you do.

4. Playa Bowls

I cannot wait to go home and go to Playa Bowls. For anyone that doesn't have a location near them, Playa Bowls is a Jersey Shore chain that sells unique acai bowls. It's honestly something you have to experience to understand.

5. Pizza

Okay, there's obviously a running theme of food here. Anyway, if you've ever talked to someone from New Jersey, it probably took them less than 30 seconds to bring up how good the pizza is. Let's be real, we all know it's amazing.

6. WaWa

No one understands how much I want a WaWa iced coffee right now... or a quesadilla... or a mac and cheese bowl with chicken strips. Oh god, I miss WaWa.

7. My Boyfriend

After weeks away from my best friend, I finally get to see him again and I cannot wait. Whoever said long distance relationships were easy obviously lied. Having a whole week together is going to be so exciting and, honestly, I can't wait.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
