7 Quotes Every Girl Should Live By
Skylar Ray

It's safe to say that life is tough. It knocks us down over and over again. We get discouraged, we lose hope and sometimes it's hard to see past the bad. Every girl is different and we all go through different obstacles, but we are all beautiful in our own way. We have a fire inside of us that shines through, whether we notice it or not. This is a fire that should never be brought down, no matter what we go through and no matter what people say about us.

Girls can be mean; we all know this. Girls say negative things about others just to make themselves feel better. We get discouraged about our body image. We feel like we have less worth when a guy we like treats us badly. All of this is normal and can get the best of everyone.

Sometimes we just have to find the beauty in life in our own ways. We have to motivate ourselves to be positive. We have to put ourselves first and focus on the most important things in life. We have to focus on our goals, our family and our friends that we love the most. That boy that says he likes you but talks to other girls does not matter. That rude comment from a girl that doesn't know you does not matter.

I know it's hard to remember these things when we're upset and discouraged, but it's important to always love ourselves and to knock out the negativity. So, here are some quotes to read when you're feeling down. They are uplifting, positive and motivational; every girl should live by them.

1. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

2. "The power you have is to be the best version of yourself you can be, so you can create a better world.” -Ashley Rickards

3. "I can’t think of any better representation of beauty than someone who is unafraid to be herself.” - Emma Stone

4."Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you’re wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you anymore. — Lady Gaga"

5."I have come to realize making yourself happy is most important. Never be ashamed of how you feel. You have the right to feel any emotion you want, and do what makes you happy. That’s my life motto." — Demi Lovato

6. "I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles."- Audrey Hepburn

7. 'Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” - Marilyn Monroe

So, ladies, life is going to bring you down sometimes. You are going to feel stressed, exhausted, discouraged and every other negative emotion in the book. All of that just comes with life, but it's up to you to turn things around.

Take a second to reflect on who you are. Love yourself, be the best you can be and never stop striving to reach your goals. Take control of your life and make your world the best you can make it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
