1. Finish College
The most important thing to do in your twenties is to finish college. Whether you started college right after high school or in your twenties, make sure that you finish. Not only does college help you grow and get jobs in your future, but it really is a great accomplishment. Once you get your degree, you can go anywhere you want without school getting in the way. Once you finish college take a break. Do whatever you feel that you need to do before you begin your career.
2.Travel
Travel. I cannot say it enough. You have ten years to do all the traveling you want. Go places where you’ve only dreamed of going and make it come true. Go to as many states in the U.S. as you can. Go to as many countries as you can. Your twenties are made for you to go on adventures and to travel the world. Don’t tell yourself that you can’t go somewhere, because you can. Don’t be scared, just do it.
3. Challenge yourself
If something scares you, do it. If something seems different, try it. If it is something you want, go for it. Your twenties are the years where you need to be challenging yourself. These are the years for growing and learning about you. Without failure and success, we don’t grow and we don’t learn. If something doesn’t work out, that’s okay. Learn the things you like and don’t like during these years. You may realize that something you didn’t like before you might end up being something you like now.
4. Stay single
It is very important to know your worth and to be independent while in your twenties. It isn’t bad to be in a relationship while in your twenties, and if you already are, and things are going great, good for you. However, if you're single and you're worried about it, don’t be. There is so much for you to learn and experience while in your twenties, and being single shouldn’t be something that worries you. It is not a bad thing to be single during this time. These are the years where finishing college, finding a job, and establishing a career is so important, that worrying about finding “the one” should not be on your mind. What should be on your mind is how to better yourself and what fun thing you want to do next. So don’t sweat the single life during your twenties. Finding “the one” will happen when happens.
5. Go on a trip with friends
One of the most important things we, as young adults in our twenties, need to experience is a road trip, or just a trip in general, with friends. If you haven’t already, plan one now! Some of the greatest memories I have are the trips I’ve made with friends. Whether it is a beach trip, a hiking trip, or even a snowboarding/ski trip, make sure that you plan a trip with friends and make it happen. As an individual, you learn so much about yourself, the world, and your friends when you go on trips. The memories and experiences made are the best part of going on a trip with friends.
6. Save money
While it is important in your twenties to travel, explore, and try new things, it is very important to save money. Whether it is $5 a week or $600 a month, learn to save money. Not only is having a little bit of extra cash nice, but it is also smart. It is smart because you’ll never know when you may reach a point in time where you wish you‘d had some spare change. Learning to save money will also help you prepare yourself for the future. It is quite difficult to travel and go on fun trips when you don’t have money saved up, so starting in your twenties will help you go on that trip that you have been wanting to go on for years.
7. Be happy and stay positive
Your twenties are complicating, and at times they can be overwhelming, but one thing to make sure you do is to stay positive. Bad things will happen and things might not always work out, but never lose hope. Never lose your drive. Never stop doing what you love. Your happiness is so important, especially during your twenties. Don’t be afraid to live, and don’t worry. Have fun in your twenties and take chances.
