After reading countless articles regarding new and upcoming fitness and exercise trends in 2015, I have decided to compile a list of seven great exercise and fitness trends to try this Spring!
1. Technology in Workout
Whether it is tracking your steps and fitness through a fit bit wristband, an app on your phone, or even an old school running watch, technology is continuing to be very prevalent in a variety of existing workouts. This can help accountability with the routine, or even embrace simple tracking methods to keep the progress documented.
Throwing it back to the typical old school sit-ups, push-ups and pull-ups! These simple yet muscle working, fat burning techniques are very simple and convenient to add to your workout no matter where you are at. No equipment or skill necessary, just start busting them out.
3. “Group" Personal Training
What more could you ask for? This is a great deal for many! You get a group of friends to get a personal trainer together while splitting the cost. It is not only cheaper and easier on your bank account, but you and your friends can hold each other accountable to attending the training sessions while building confidence with each other during the training.
4. Functional Fitness
Using everyday simple tasks or increasing these tasks to boost fitness, without even going to the gym is why functional fitness has grown in popularity with some. Whether it is carrying in a load of groceries, walking the long way to get somewhere, or even loading luggage into a car; these are all functional fitness activities that do more for you than you would think.
5. Online Workouts
Convenient and accessible are two words that describe online workouts. Whether you are snowed in at home or out of town on vacation, with a laptop and some wifi one can make this workout happen. So get to work! Get on YouTube and find the video sequence of the workout that best suits you.
6. Recovery
Due to the recent popularity in high interval and high intensity training, many individuals continue to feel very sore and often get injured. In order to decrease soreness and injury, many people are starting to take part in recovery workouts. Recovery workouts include various forms of restorative yoga as well as stretching sequences.
7. Unique 5ks
The popularity of 5ks and races in general are on the rise with themed 5ks such as color runs, glow runs, mud runs, obstacle runs, warrior runs, cupcake runs, team runs among many others. So get out there and run!
